This tragedy with the death of our parishioner and a friend shook us. And we all, and first of all the former drug addicts, realized that the struggle was not on life, but to death, and this passion would not leave them until the end of life.

Therefore, we do not build any air locks. We firmly realize that God will do everything to save a person, but as the holy fathers of the church they write, God cannot save a person without him. And the peasant youth is not protected by anything - neither the faith nor the moral concepts of good and evil, nor any ideology, nor even a sense of self-preservation.

Drug addiction is a problem not only and not so much medical, legal or social. First of all, this is an ideological problem. It is not by chance only those in whom at the personal level the spiritual insight was made, who gained a solid spiritual basis in their lives, acquire salvation.

But in faith it is impossible to pay anyone forcibly. Even the addict who has already reached his death, you can not bring to church and "forcibly" to save. Orthodoxy is a choice of a free person. And making this choice, a person gets extraordinary forces to fight evil within himself.

If our society decides to seriously fight this plague of our time, it must go through the same way. Otherwise, no government programs, no multimillion investments, no rehabilitation centers will stop the spread of this evil, as they do not stop it in Western countries.

In Russia, here for a dozen years are looking for a national idea. If the search for it will continue outside the context of the National Russian History, outside the spiritual foundations of Orthodoxy, then to search can be infinitely long.
