The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated by the Christian world on August 15/28, is the greatest of the holidays established by the Church to glorify the Mother of God, the so-called Mother of God holidays. The Virgin Mary is the most revered and most sacred person after the Lord, it is Her who is given special honor and worship by all sorts of Christians. The Virgin Mary was a unique creation of God, surpassing both people and Angels. She is the only one of all people who led a blameless life and, inexplicably to all things, became the Mother of God. Each time, celebrating the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we seem to meet Easter again, this time summer ...

August 29    - Transfer from Edessa to Constantinople of the Not Made Image (Ubrus) of Our Lord Jesus Christ

The first Christian icon is the “Savior Not Made by Hands”, it is the basis of all Orthodox icon veneration. The miraculous Image of the Savior Jesus Christ according to Christian tradition is one of the proofs of the truth of the incarnation of the second person of the Trinity in the human image. The ability to capture the image of God, according to the teachings of the Orthodox Church, is associated with the Incarnation, that is, the birth of Jesus Christ, God the Son, or, as His believers usually call him, the Savior, the Savior. Before His birth, the appearance of icons was unrealistic - God the Father is invisible and incomprehensible, therefore, and incalculable. Thus, God himself became the first icon painter, His Son - “the image of His hypostasis” (Heb. 1.3). God found a human face, the Word became flesh for the salvation of man ... Jesus Christ taught not only His disciples, but also all who wanted to listen to Him.
What is His teaching? Why did the Lord follow a great many people during His earthly life and is now following it?
The Savior taught how to heal from sins and gain eternal life, the kingdom of heaven.
Once, when he saw the people, Jesus Christ went up the mountain and delivered a sermon for the disciples and the whole people (a lecture), which was called the Sermon on the Mount.
But the Lord is not talking here about earthly joys and pleasures, even the most exalted ones, but about how to gain eternal bliss in a future life.
The commandments given by the Savior indicate the path to spiritual perfection, purity - holiness. And having attained holiness, man attains bliss and salvation.
  THE COMMANDMENTS OF BLESSION
  1. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
The poor in spirit are people who feel and acknowledge their sins and spiritual weaknesses. They do not hope for salvation and happiness without God, therefore they call upon Him to rectify their sins.
  2. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Crying here is understood as the deep grief of a person because of his sins and estrangement from God. Repentants and those who want to get rid of sins will be forgiven and will gain eternal life and will be comforted on earth.
  3. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
The meek - patiently, meek and humbly enduring all the burdens of the earth. A meek person is not extolled before anyone. Thus the Lord promises to give possession of the land.
  4. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for truth, for they will be filled.
Greedy and thirsty for truth - those who desire and strive for a righteous life, they will be satisfied, that is, they will receive what they seek: righteousness and justification of their lives.
  5. Blessed are the merciful, for they will have mercy.
Merciful - people with a kind heart, merciful, compassionate, sympathetic.
  6. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
The pure in heart are people who try not only not to do wrong, but to protect the heart from evil thoughts and desires.
  7. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God.
Peacekeepers - people who live peacefully, trying not to quarrel and not to offend other people. They also help the warring parties come to terms with each other.
  8. Blessed are those who are banished for the truth, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Exiled for truth - people who are expelled and persecuted because they live according to the truth, that is, according to God's law, even if all others live differently.
  9. Blessed are you when they reproach you and persecute you and in every possible way unjustly slander for Me. Rejoice and have fun, for your reward is great in heaven: so did they also persecute the prophets who were before you.
The commandments given by Christ are very exalted, their meaning is deep and not immediately comprehended, and in order to truly fulfill them, a person does not have enough of his own powers.
Christ has given people not only a new teaching - He mysteriously gives strength to follow His teachings.
