This story about my trip to the village of Chimeevo is an amazingly beautiful place in the Belozersky district of the Kurgan region (about 110 km. From the Kurgan towards Tyumen). This area is famous not only for its natural beauty, but also because the local church has a miraculous Icon of the Mother of God of Kazan, to which thousands of pilgrims come every year. The trip itself was preceded by a series of circumstances, which I will discuss later.

Several years ago there was a repair in my apartment, and I accidentally got into a conversation with the owner of a construction company that was engaged in the repair. His name was Mikhail - this is a large man, aged 40-42, who turned out to be a very interesting conversationalist.

Two years before our meeting, Mikhail suffered a heart attack and for several minutes was in a state of clinical death. But his most surprising impression was that he clearly saw himself lying before the doctors.

He saw his body and gradually moved away from it up until it soared high into the sky. He really liked this state of lightness and flight and wanted to fly higher and higher, until a stern voice stopped him with the words: “It's too early for you here ...”

After that, Michael woke up. He realized that something special had happened and that this experience would change his whole life. And life before this went downhill: problems in the family, in business, constant stresses, which led to a heart attack. And also - the lack of faith in life and faith in life itself, which is tantamount to loss.

After leaving the hospital, Michael was at a crossroads. He understood that he could no longer live as he had before, but still did not know how to live on? One day, he met on the street a familiar woman whom he told his story to. She listened carefully to him and said:

-   You must go to church in a. Chimeevo Kurgan region, where the Icon of the Kazan Mother of God is located.

Why and why this is necessary - she did not explain. The fact is that Michael did not consider himself a believer and did not go to church before. Although in childhood, when he was still very young, he was baptized at the insistence of his grandmother.

Several months passed, but the man periodically recalled this conversation and the advice of a friend - be sure to go to Chimeyevo.

And so, when the next black streak began in his life, he still decided to find this small villagein the Belozersky district of the Kurgan region and find out what this miraculous icon is?

There were several people in the temple at that time. Right in front of Mikhail was a cheerful company: two men and two women, clearly village, which was noticeable about the simple manner of speaking and a healthy blush on his cheeks. They joked, laughed, and animatedly discussed something, which did not go very well with the atmosphere of the temple.

But, now it’s their turn to approach the icon. The first was the jokey man, the fastest and loudest of the whole company. He did not stand before the icon for long, but when he turned, his expression was thoughtful, and there were tears in his eyes. He silently walked past his fellow countrymen and went out of their temple. Almost the same unexpected change of mood followed and the rest, when they moved away from Icons of the Kazan Mother of God.

Michael went towards the icon - some force attracted him to her. He immediately felt a strange sensation, as if someone had stroked his head from the inside. It was a strange sensation, but he overpowered his fear and surprise and asked the question with which he came here:

And I heard a clear answer within me:

- "Live and be happy!"

This is the story this man told me and advised me to visit this Temple in Chimeevo and see the Icon of the Kazan Mother of God. I agreed with him out of decency, but did not attach much importance to his words. The fact is that I did not consider myself a believer, the atheistic upbringing in the school years of the period 70-80s of the XX century affected.

Already at the institute, I began to be interested in philosophy and various religions, trying to find answers to my questions in them. But I didn’t find it, because I understood that much of what came to us from ancient times was already overgrown with moss and mud of various interpretations, gradually turning the original sources into dead letters.

Later, I learned about the tradition of Hesychasm and the Holy Elders, who from their cells could influence the fate of Russia. These are Rev. Sergius of Radonezh, Seraphim of Sarov and other Ascetics and Warriors of the Spirit. That is why in my soul I retained a deep respect for the feat of life of these people and the Orthodox patristic tradition.

And I also realized that religions are different sides of the one Eternal Truth. And if, suddenly, all the Founders of the World religions met together, they would definitely be able to understand and respect each other. Unfortunately, religious followers sometimes fail to understand and respect each other.

Several years passed, I periodically recalled this conversation with Mikhail and how confidently and cheerfully he told me about his plans for the future. It was felt that inside him there was some kind of rod that does not allow bending and retreating before life's turmoil.

And once I had a dream. In a dream, I was riding a bus around the city, and some man was running after the bus - he had the icon of the Mother of God of Kazan in his hands, and he tried to pass it to me. I got off at the bus stop and took this icon from him. True, it was small, much smaller than the one I saw later in Chimeevo. I remember this dream well.

In 2013, the idea of \u200b\u200ba trip to Chimeyevo came not only to me, but also to my wife, so we planned to visit this amazing place as soon as possible.

And here we are. A trip from Kurgan on the highway in the direction of Tyumen took about an hour. The Holy Kazan Monastery for men and the church in Chimeevo can be seen immediately upon entering the village, which turned out to be relatively small, but surrounded by a beautiful pine forest, in which there is a healing spring and font.

According to legend, this spring appeared in the year of finding the icon of the Mother of God of Kazan, which floated in an upright position right along the Niyap River, passing through the entire village. This event took place in the 17th century, and in connection with the miraculous appearance of the icon, the Temple was built, which was destroyed by fire several years later. But the Icon of the Mother of God of Kazan turned out to be unscathed!

There are several more stories about the miraculous properties of this icon, so pilgrims from different parts of our country and even from other countries constantly come to Cimeevo to touch the Trans-Ural Shrine and bathe in a healing spring located in a pine forest, about 1 km from the Temple .

We also visited the source, but did not dare to swim, which we now regret. But nothing - we will do it next time.

I want to say that, despite the winter, and we arrived in Chimeevo on February 13, bathing in the spring is suitable not only for “walruses”, but also for less seasoned people, since the rooms where the fonts are located are heated and a comfortable temperature is maintained there. Later, the government decided to re-equip the temple with the icon there under the granary. Since 1947, the church was returned to the parishioners. When services began here again, it turned out that the Chimeevsky image of the Virgin was safe and sound. Since then, he remained here, over the past years, the Mother of God has helped many parishioners, so the fame of her spread throughout the country.

Since 2002, the icon is located in the Holy Kazan Chimeevsky Monastery. A few years later, a new temple was built in the village, in which the holy icon was located. But over time, the church dilapidated, and in its place the Kazan-Bogoroditsky church was erected, consecrated in honor of the inseparable miracle-working Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. On the site of the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary - the bank of the Niyap River - already in the twentieth century a chapel was established, to which an endless stream of pilgrims stretches.

On March 22, 2004, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia, the list of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, called Chimeevsky, is included in the calendar month of the words of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Waiting for a miracle is always a path that does not coincide with physical distances. Rather, it is a spiritual dimension where pain and hope, despair and faith, fear and prayer are combined.

From all over Russia (and not only there are foreign ones), pilgrims go to Chimeyevo to meet the miraculous Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. They bring their troubles, sorrows, diseases.

The thousand-year history of Christianity in Russia is not only the strengthening and development of Orthodoxy in the central Russian regions, but also the promotion of faith in new lands, the development of which is sanctified by the Providence of God. It happened in different ways. An ascetic appeared (such as St. Dalmatian of Iset in our Trans-Ural region) and Orthodox life arose and developed around him, churches were erected, and a monastery was built.

The Lord consecrated new lands and the appearance of miraculous icons. This happened in the small Siberian village of Chimeevo. It is located on the banks of the small but swift Niyap River. According to legend, about three hundred years ago, the waters of this river revealed the Miracle-working. And it happened like that. The kids played on the shore and suddenly saw a large black “board” floating vertically against the current. After some moments, the “board”, hitting a whirlpool, stopped. The children saw a woman's face with huge eyes turned to them. Frightened, they ran after the priest and adults. Soon the whole village gathered. This was a significant spiritual event in the life of the largest Ural city. Thousands and thousands of people came to prayer worship to the miraculous image of the Most Holy Theotokos. After glorification, pilgrims from Yekaterinburg, other cities and villages of the Urals constantly come to Chimeyevo.

Source of holy water

Winter pines, destitute by snowlessness this year, keep silence around the spring. Everything here is comfortable. There is even a memo: how to behave. There should be no fuss, screams, garbage, etc. And then some are trying to arrange almost picnics here, which desecrate the holy place.

The descent to the source is steep, so you go down the neat wooden steps. There are exactly forty of them. Going down slowly, with prayer. Scoop a bucket of water from the well. You drink it, icy, but no one has a sore throat. The taste is amazing! They say that when they studied the composition of Chimeev water, they were struck by the high silver content. Maybe it is so, but you never know how many wells have silver water, but it doesn’t have wonderful properties.

There is a swimming pool near the source. People pour water from Chimeev’s ice buckets, receiving grace for the soul and body. The feeling after pouring is often conveyed in the same words: as if born again. And the first thing you see is a small Russian wooden chapel, installed next to the source. The dome, overshadowed by a cross, looks into the blue sky. Orthodox Chimeevsky world. Joy and purification.

Chimeevsky Kazan-Bogoroditsky Monastery

Monasteries have always played a special role in the life of Russia. They were the spiritual collectors of the Russian people, guarded and strengthened the faith in the years of unrest and disaster. Not only monks, but also ordinary lay people gained spiritual support here, were freed from adversity and misfortune. During the invasions and wars, many monasteries turned into impregnable fortresses. It is also important that the monasteries played a significant economic role. Thousands of peasants worked and fed around them, and in frequent lean years the monastery stocks saved people from hunger.

Therefore, it is especially important that in modern Russia not only traditional, but also new monasteries are reviving. One of them is Chimeevsky. Who are they, modern monks and novices? Here is one of the meetings that happened on this trip. Deacon Andrei. He is not a monk, but is about to accept tonsure. Tall, brown-eyed. By nationality - gypsies. Well, according to our stereotypes, he did not expect to meet anyone at all in a monastery. What doesn’t happen in Chimeevo! Not immediately, but gradually began to talk:

I never thought that I would come to the monastery. Although there were some unusual events in my previous life. Somehow, in my youth, something strange happened to me - I suddenly fell ill, and fell into a coma - I lay unconscious for a week. Doctors said it was nervous. I do not know. When I woke up, I thought that I had lain for half an hour, but it turned out - a week. He began to remember what happened to me. And there were some visions - they took me to terrible places, showed people with whom something was going wrong.

When I woke up, I began to realize that they were warning me about something. My life was far from angelic. I asked to invite a priest to the hospital. We met every day, talked for a long time. I became increasingly aware that the path I was taking was unacceptable. There is another way.

This is left. And then I became a successful businessman, the owner of the plant. Of course, he helped both the church and the Ural monasteries. But it was all wrong. The soul did not calm down. There was no place for her. He met with father Arseny. Once he invited me to visit. I arrived in Chimeyevo, and here somehow my soul calmed down. Remained.

Of course, it was very difficult. What I was - an imperious person, which everyone was simply afraid of, and what I became - this is now a completely different person. At one time I thought I could not stand it. Thanks to the prayers and cares of his father, Arseny managed to overcome his pride with God's help. Now I think that I will stay here forever.

Such is the story. According to father Arseny, the number of people coming to the monastery is increasing. Someone comes by faith, consciously choosing the path of a monastic minister. Many are from despair. Among them there are people suffering from alcoholism, drug addiction. They are accepted without promising an easy life and quick results. Father Arseny emphasizes that only faith, relentless prayer and daily, hourly hard work can bring salvation from the disease.

It is no coincidence that when Father Arseniy speaks of immediate plans, he first of all mentions the construction of an inexhaustible chalice in honor of the icon of the Mother of God on the monastery’s territory. Prayers addressed to this icon help get rid of drunkenness and drug addiction. The construction of the temple is a Tyumen philanthropist.

The building will also be built, which will host the cells of the monks, as well as a library with a small computer room. There will also be a house church in honor of St. Seraphim of Sarov.

According to iconography, the Chimeevsky image is a harassment of the KAZAN icon of the Mother of God. The icon of the Mother of God appeared in the 18th century in the Chimeyevskaya settlement, located 90 miles from the Kurgan. According to eyewitnesses, the icon of the Mother of God sailed along the Niyap River, a tributary of Tobol. The second miraculous gain occurred after the first temple was completely burned down in 1770. After the fire, only the Chimeevsky image of the Mother of God was found on the ashes. In 1937, the bells were dropped from the Chimeevsky Church in honor of the appearance of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, and the temple was ravaged. Three days after this he lived, but, without repenting of his deeds, on the third day he died in terrible agony. In 1947, services at the Chimeyevsky temple were restored and do not stop until today.

It was with this icon, from visiting the then still small church in the village of Chemeevo, that I began my hard, hard, but sure path to the Lord. We arrived in Chemeevo with her husband, he had trouble at work, and I was all sick and not only physically. Both of us had tormented souls, we were like blind kittens and did not see the light in pitch darkness.

I kissed this miraculous icon, but I could only appreciate the power of Mother of the Virgin, or rather, only after three years, when I was diagnosed with cancer, but I survived, recovered, and now continue to live. When I went through this difficult test, for some reason I always kept this image in my head and believed that the Mother of God would save me and She saved, prayed me sinful. She also gave me an assistant, the best in the world - Mother Matronushka, who to this day leads me by the hand to the Lord. Everything was fine with me, and my husband too)))) And most importantly, we came to faith, now I know why a person is born and goes through all the trials))))

I only now understand that everything that happens to us, everything is by the will of the Lord, and the trip, which then seemed completely unnecessary to me, saved my life. and first of all my dying soul.

The Chimeevskaya Icon of the Mother of God by all indications is a list of the famous Kazan Icon of the Virgin, but the time and place of its creation has remained unknown. The first mention of it dates back to the 18th century, when it sailed along the Niyap River to the village of Chimeevo. Local residents saw a whirlpool on the river, and in it for a moment flashed the huge and expressive eyes of the Virgin. Huge - not an exaggeration or a typo, because the icon is really very impressive in size: it is painted on three fastened boards. She reveals the image of the Mother of God to the believer, next to her stands the Divine Infant with her hand raised in a blessing gesture. On the margins are the holy prophet Elijah and Patriarch Modest. In November 1770, the church in which the icon was located burned to the ground. In the ashes, oh miracle !, they found only the Chimeevsky icon of the Mother of God that survived. Until now, the face of the Virgin remained burns after the conflagration. During the repressions against the church, the temple was destroyed and ruined, but not one of the offenders survived even before the outbreak of the 1941 war. During the war, they decided to build a granary here, but could not even move it from its place. Then the chairman of the council decided in the morning to cut the icon. At night, he died of bleeding that suddenly opened. Since 1947, the temple resumed its activities, and the Chimeyev icon continues to work miracles to this day. Holidays in honor of the icon set July 21 and November 4.

Samara icon painter Sergei Osipov has been painting the churches of the Chimeevsky monastery, well-known throughout Russia, for four years now.

Icon painter Sergey Aleksandrovich Osipov recently visited the editorial office of Blagovest. He brought to show us his new icon, calling for repentance for the sin of abortion (read about it in our next issue). And we talked with him, asked about his work in the Kurgan diocese.

Sergey Osipov was born in Samara and considers himself a Samara icon painter, although he has lived in Moscow since the beginning of the 2000s. Four years ago, he left the capital and began to paint temples in the Holy Kazan Chimeevsky Monastery of the Kurgan Diocese.

In his forty-four years, he already managed to take part in the painting and restoration of more than thirty churches in the Samara, Simbirsk, Orenburg, Volgograd, Moscow dioceses. His paintings are in collections of Russian museums and private collections. He organizes solo exhibitions annually. In Samara, he at one time completely painted one of the oldest St. Peter and Paul Church in our city, and also participated in the painting of the Church of the Nativity in the village of Great Tsarevshchina. The famous Samara poet Boris Sirotin visited the newly restored church more than two decades ago and wrote a poem that later became widely known. Our icon painter is also mentioned in that poem ...

Now in that church near Tsarev Kurgan, and in many other restored and newly painted churches, the situation is completely different! And people go to temples, prayed them, - for many Russian people the temple became the House of God ... And it is warm, bright and comfortable in it. The “Bogomaz Serezha” mentioned in the poem — the icon painter Sergey Osipov, and dozens of other icon painters — worked a lot for this.

Sergei has the appearance of a film actor, besides a soft, quiet manner of speech, sprinkled with gentle diminutive words, the gift of tenderness and tears. And strong hands, broad shoulders of the icon painter, who every day performs intense spiritual and physical work on painting temples, sometimes works at high altitude. Sergey devoted himself to serving God, the work of an icon painter. At the same time, he is a successful artist who creates secular portraits. Moreover, the heroes of his work are famous people, sometimes even from the world of show business. At one time, the Samara archpriest John Bukotkin did not bless Sergei to take the priesthood, saying that he had a different calling, and we must follow it, especially since there are few good icon painters.

Thanks to Sergey Alexandrovich, the distant Trans-Ural Chimeevo, glorious by the miraculous icon of the Mother of God “Kazan”, became closer to us. Our guest also spoke about his fellowship with dear unforgettable Samaritans: Metropolitan John (Snychev), Archpriest John Bukotkin, Blessed Scheme nun Maria, nowadays, an excellent and wonderful pastor, Archpriest Vladimir Nazarov - under the guidance of these famous people, his spiritual development was underway.

Chimeevo

Previously, it was not possible to paint the temple in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, where the Chimeevsky miraculous image is stored. According to the governor of the monastery, hegumen Serafim (Dmitriev), a special person was needed for the painting. And then the Mother of God brought to the holy place the Samara icon painter Sergey Osipov.

“I treat the work in Chimeevo not as a painting of another church, but as a fateful phenomenon for me,” says Sergey Osipov. - In a worldly way, I was simply invited to work on the painting of the Holy Kazan Chimeyevsky Monastery by his governor Abbot Arseny (Posnov), now deceased. Father put a lot of work on the creation of this monastery, which this year turned ten years old. Chimeevsky monastery became one of the spiritual centers of the Trans-Urals, the Urals and Western Siberia.

I believe that God's Providence was that I had to move here and work for the Lord, to save my soul here. Although at first the Trans-Urals seemed to me something very distant and alien. But now I love those places.

It all started when a representative of the Kurgan and Shadrinsk diocese came to me in Moscow and ordered a portrait of Bishop Michael of Kurgan and Shadrinsk (Raskovalov † 2008). I wrote it. A few years later, Father Arseniy called me, thanked for the portrait of Vladyka and asked me to write several more portraits, including a portrait of the singer Alla Pugacheva. Later, I learned that Pugacheva is the spiritual child of Father Arseny, she helps the Chimeyev monastery. I painted her portrait, met her. I will say this about her: she is a believer, easy to communicate, but the laws of show business are very strict, and she has to live in accordance with the environment in which she “cooks”. And a year and a half later, Father Arseny invited me to Chimeyevo to paint a temple in honor of the icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary “The Inexhaustible Chalice”.

But for such a great job you have to live there permanently, and I am a family man. Therefore, at first I moved my family to Cimeevo.

We immediately bought a house in a neighboring village. The places there are very beautiful, but the impression after Moscow, after Samara was sad - neither cellular communications, nor normal roads. I walked through an empty village house and did not know where to start. But when work began, despondency left. I painted the temple for a year and a half.

Chimeevo is a very fertile place. The presence of the Chimeevsky miraculous icon of the Mother of God is felt everywhere.

- Tell us about the miraculous icon - what is it?

Chimeevskaya icon is constantly fragrant. It is quite large - 90 to 110 centimeters. It is made of three boards, in honor of the Holy Trinity. She miraculously appeared in the first half of the seventeenth century: she sailed along the Niyap River against the current in an upright position and stopped at the village of Chimeevo. The icon stopped at the place where the children were playing, and began to rotate, emitting light. After the adults came and the priest served a prayer, the icon itself sailed to the shore. People were struck by the big bright eyes of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Apparently, the icon appeared in that place to strengthen people in the Orthodox faith. That region is the place of residence of convicts, migrants. Settlements are called: Raskolnikovo, Raskovalovo. The ancient Siberian village of Chimeevo got its name by the name of the first settler of the convict Chimeev. There, even in the 17th century, there was still a lot of paganism.

The children found the icon, apparently, only their pure hearts were worthy to see a miracle. Along with the appearance of the icon in the forest near the village, a spring sprang up. Places there are forest, marshy, the water is very poor. And in the spring it is crystal clear, tasty, does not deteriorate, it has a high silver content. The spring was called the source of the Mother of God.

And now these places are remote places. And then there were no roads, no modern communication, and the glory of the icon went only in the surrounding villages. The icon was in the church in honor of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Constantine and Helena. But in November 1770 the temple burned down. People were very sad: the only shrine in this region, and that was lost. The temple burned to the ground, even church utensils melted. When the ashes cooled down, the children began to rake the ash and stumbled upon something solid. The icon appeared before them uninjured, it only slightly darkened, but the eyes remained the same bright. In this state, she came to us.

They immediately decided to build a new temple, one of its chapels, where a miraculous image was kept, was dedicated to the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. In 1887, when the church fell into disrepair, the village decided to build a third church in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Virgin. Being wooden, it is still preserved. The temple is one hundred and thirty years old. The magnificent iconostasis was made in the icon-painting workshops of Shadrinsk, which were not inferior to the capital's. Each centimeter of the golden surface - icons, iconostasis, icon cases - is polished with a wolf's fang. This is aerobatics in gilding, now there are only a few such masters. It feels like it's a whole golden item. Now, of course, restoration is already needed.

When in 1917 the Komsomol members dropped bells from the temple, during the fall the evangelism sounded menacingly. The atheists got scared and fled. Those of them who did not come to repentance, for various reasons, did not live to see the Great Patriotic War. Thank God the temple was not destroyed during the time of persecution. In 1937 it was closed, but people came and prayed at the closed gates. At the beginning of the war, a grain warehouse was set up in it. Icons were removed and placed on the altar. But when they wanted to take the miraculous icon, it was so heavy that no one could move it. The chairman of the local village council, Guryan Gladkov, cursing, went to the icon with an ax: “What can you do nothing? I’ll pull her out by the braids. ” But supernatural power drove him away from the icon. His nose started bleeding, for three days he was bleeding and died. It was a wonderful admonition. No one else dared to approach the icon. She stood covered with grain. When they later changed the robe on it, grains sprinkled. The Mother of God preserved her icon-painting image; he was not injured. In 1947, the temple was opened, allowed to conduct services. The icon showed miracles, its fame grew.

Since the 90s of the last century, when the revival of Orthodoxy began in Russia, they began to learn more and more about the Chimeyev icon. They began to ask to bring the Chimeevsky icon to other dioceses. But the miraculous icon itself does not leave the walls of our temple. An exact copy of the icon travels to other dioceses. Moreover, they bring her in the icon case in which the miraculous Chimeyev Icon of the Mother of God was previously stored. The miraculous icon had a silvered robe, hung, as is customary with us, with gold crosses, chains, earrings, and rings in gratitude for the healing. There was no longer enough space, but people thanked everyone, thanked. The famous Tyumen jeweler Igor Lebedev, from re-donated donations for five years, made a new robe, which has no analogue in the country. Riza is made with great skill and love.

The icon reveals many miracles. People from all over Russia, foreign delegations, and the church members of the elite of our country come to her. Many appear in Chimeevo more than once, help the monastery. Singer Stas Mikhailov (he is on the right in the picture, and his wife Sergei and Tatyana Osipov are next to him), passing by Chimeevo from Tyumen to Kurgan, once accidentally drove into a monastery, bought a small image of the Chimeevskaya Mother of God there and put it on a miraculous icon. Soon he was in a terrible accident, but neither he, nor the people traveling with him, nor even the car was injured. Mikhailov at that moment was holding the Chimeevskaya icon. This case made a great impression on him. His song repertoire began to change in the spiritual direction. Now he is very friendly with this monastery. And so many.

The Chimeevskaya Mother of God is a great helper in childbirth, in healing from cancer. One day a woman came to pray in her last stage of cancer, and after some time she appeared in the monastery again, healthy and happy. Healing, of course, is not an icon, but the Mother of God Himself. But in Chimeevo, Her presence is particularly evident.

In 2004, the Chimeevsky image of the Blessed Virgin Mary was included in the months of the miracles of the miraculous icons of the Mother of God.

- What was your first impression of the icon?

It’s very unusual, unearthly, as in the Holy Trinity Church in the village of Tashla in the Samara Region, where there is also a manifest miraculous image of the Mother of God “Deliverer from Misfortunes”.

Now the Chimeevskaya icon is being updated. When you approach her, you feel the heat emanating from her. And when you look into Her eyes, it feels as if you have not seen Mom for a long time and you want to hug her. I know this feeling: my mother lives in Samara, and I do not see her for a long time.

I am so glad that I work near such a shrine! When there is no one in the temple in the evening, I go up to the icon, press my head against it and stand for a long time. I feel so warm. And at this moment I do not want to ask for anything, I do not need anything, everything is there.

- How to get to Chimeevo?

On the Internet on the official website of the Holy Kazan Chimeevsky monastery, where the icon is located, there is a guide. The monastery is geographically located between the Kurgan, Tyumen and Yekaterinburg. You need to get to Kurgan and then go through the ring along the road towards Shadrinsk and Yekaterinburg. After 45 kilometers there will be a sign: “Temple of the Mother of God of Chimeevskaya” - another 40 kilometers to it.

In Kurgan, everyone knows this shrine, anyone will tell you how to get there. These are truly holy places: people have repeatedly seen the pillar of light emanating from the Chimeyevsky monastery to the very sky. There are four temples in the monastery: the old St. Kazan, in honor of the icon “The Inexhaustible Chalice”, the house church in honor of St. Seraphim of Sarov and is preparing for the blessing of the baptismal church with a large font in honor of St. Alexander Svirsky.

The monastery is open daily from seven in the morning until eleven in the evening. A hotel for pilgrims, a free meal was built.

After the death of Arseniy's father, the abbot of the monastery became hegumen Seraphim (Dmitriev), a wonderful person, a prayer book. According to him, the monastery on this site was created by the Mother of God herself through the appearance of the miraculous icon. Many people come to the monastery. The annual All-Russian Chimeyev Festival of the Orthodox Song "Truth in Love" is now taking place in the village. At the festival, I hold my personal exhibitions.

In winter, I am engaged in painting, so as not to distract my work from the prayers of numerous parishioners and pilgrims, and in summer - by icon painting. There are always a lot of people, the territory of the temple and the adjacent streets are one large parking lot.

Which style is better?

- In what style is your painting done?

In volumetric, or academic. It is more understandable to the laity, many love this style of writing.

- And how do you feel about old Russian icon painting, would you like to work in this style?

Perhaps, but I always write with my heart, forgetting that I have some special knowledge. Please pray: "Lord, give me Your mercy and grace for this work." Following an unwritten rule: the first thought is from God. There is grace - the icon is written without sketches.

I do not regard ancient Russian icon painting as a dogma, although many people eagerly defend this particular style. Once I had a dispute with the famous Samara icon painter Vladimir Vlasov. He is an ardent supporter of the old Russian style, and we argued with him which style is right. Old Russian style is more considered monastic. The monk looks at the icon a little, he looks inside himself, the layman looks at the icon. Therefore, spatial writing is closer to worldly people. I was saddened, doubted: “Maybe I'm doing something wrong? It’s better to change the style than to answer at the Last Judgment. ” By the grace of God, I then closely communicated with the Samara blessed nun Maria (Matukasova). And I went up to her: "Mother, bless, we are arguing with Volodenka here ..." She told me once on the forehead: "And what are you worried about, you are not writing." According to this answer, I work.

“I grew up in the eyes of Vladyka John”

- Tell us about your father, artist Alexander Mikhailovich Osipov.

Father is from Alma-Ata. In Soviet times, he was there a member of the Union of Artists, Honored Artist of the Kazakh SSR. A man very respected for talent, authoritative.

But when I was born in 1968, the family began to lack funds, and he undertook to paint the temple. He was a believer. Someone reported, and he was stripped of all ranks, all the doors in front of him were closed. And my mother was Samara, and they moved to Samara. Here, my father met with Bishop John (Snychev), later Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga. Father came to him in the bishop's house on Ulyanovsk Street, brought to show him his icons. Vladyka was very gracious, welcoming, and immediately accepted him. Between them a long-term friendship began. Father worked under the spiritual guidance of the Archpastor. Vladyka John laid many prayer works for my father and our family. He has been at our place more than once.

- How do you remember Vladyka John?

I loved him very much. He always kissed me, the little one, on the forehead. I remember the smell of his hands - fragrant hands, the quiet timbre of his little voice, like that of some mother. I grew up in front of the Lord. I am so grateful to him even for the warmth of his hands! As a child, I was restless, mischievous, and, coming with my father to Vladyka’s home, I climbed everywhere. I was interested in everything: look in some drawer, touch the icon and kiss. While dad and Vladyka are talking, I will examine the whole house. I remember the landscapes on the walls, the Lord’s office to the left, the old harpsichord. His narrow iron crib in a small room. But for people it was all. Vladyka was tired, and grandmother was walking down the street: “knock-knock-knock” - she wanted to go to Vladyka to talk. "Come in, wait, now the Lord will come out."

I'm generally lucky with the Bishops. I had good relations with Vladyka Eusebius in Samara. With great warmth and gratitude I recall my work under the leadership of Samara Bishop Sergius, now Metropolitan. And now I am working in the Kurgan Diocese with the blessing of the Archbishop of Kurgan and Shadrinsky Constantine.

The teacher in icon painting and in faith

Pope was friends with Archpriest Vladimir Nazarov, rector of the church in honor of the Nativity of Christ in the village of Bolshaya Tsarevshchina. When dad was gone, Father Vladimir took me into his strong hands: “Sergey, let's go to Vladyka!” We went, and Vladyka John blessed me for icon painting work. It was 1989. By that time, I had graduated from the Petrov-Vodkin Samara Art College, worked on the distribution of opera and ballet in the regional theater, and served in the army. Father Vladimir taught me a lot in creativity, since he is a restorer. I gained a lot in icon painting from him, learned from him gilding craftsmanship. For several years I painted under his leadership a temple in the Tsarevshchina. The father was strict with me, he said: "Don’t be offended, I know that you can still squeeze a lot out of you." I am so grateful to him! He "finished off" me a lot in Orthodoxy. I was then a young man, somewhat stupid, and he helped me to get into church. At a conscious age, I first confessed and communed with Father Vladimir. He taught me to see my sin and chop it in the bud.

- When do you think that you got the icon?

Although the Chimeyev Icon of the Mother of God is considered a locally revered image, her fame spread far beyond Siberia and even Russia - this is evidenced by numerous pilgrimages not only from our country, but also from abroad. The history of finding the miraculous Chimeevskaya icon is also associated with a miracle.

History icons

This miracle happened in the first half of the 18th century. Residents of the village of Chimeeva saw some kind of large dark board carried by the stormy waters of the Niyap River. When the board fell into a whirlpool, it tipped, and those present were literally burnt by the gaze of the incredibly expressive eyes of the Virgin.

The icon was placed in the Chimeevsky church, according to which it got its name. What disasters have not befallen this striking icon, and what miracles it has not revealed! In 1770, the church burned down, but the Chimeyev Icon of the Mother of God was found on the ashes unscathed, with only a slightly charred face (a trace of it is visible today).

In Soviet times, the icon revealed another miracle. When in 1937 the Chimeevsky Church was completely ruined, dropping the bells and carrying out all the icons, the Chimeevsky Icon of the Mother of God could not be moved, so she remained in the boarded up church. The news of this miracle spread widely around. Pilgrims came from far away to pray with the parishioners at the door of the church.

Only ten years later, the temple was returned to believers, and it turned out that the miraculous icon was safe and sound.

She has helped so many people that the fame of her has passed throughout the country, and the flow of pilgrims has not dried up until now

In 2002, the Chimeevsky Icon of the Mother of God was transferred to the Holy Kazan Chimeevsky Monastery, from where an exact copy of it was taken to other dioceses. The icon itself is considered too rare and valuable, since in the icon painting this image was practically not repeated. This is its great importance for both believers and Russian iconography.

Value of the Chimeevskaya Icon

The Chimeevskaya icon is a canonical version of the image of the Kazan Mother of God, therefore, sometimes you can meet her double name: the icon of the Mother of God, Kazan Chimeevskaya. According to the icon-painting type, it is attributed to Hodegetria (the Guidebook) - one of the most ancient images of the Mother of God. According to legend, Saint Luke himself was the first to write such an image.

The Virgin Mary is depicted with her head bowed to the Infant Jesus, but He stands at full height, making a blessing gesture with his right hand. The most important difference of the Chimeevskaya icon is the absolutely stunning eyes of the Mother of God, unusually large and as if piercing through and through. Although the icon itself darkened with time, the eyes of the Mother of God retained brightness.

The icon is painted on a massive board 108x89 cm in size. At present, instead of the old silver-plated salary, a salary was made for it from crosses, rings and chains, with which the pilgrims hung the miraculous icon so that the face was almost invisible, is clear evidence that the prayer to the Chimeev icon The Mother of God helps in solving vital problems.
