A Brief Life of the Righteous Simeon of Verkhotursky (Merkushinsky)

Righteous Simeon of Verkhotursky was born at the beginning of the 17th century in the European part of Russia into a family of pious nobles. Obeying Divine guidance, he left honors and earthly wealth and retired beyond the Urals. In Siberia, righteous Simeon lived like a simple wanderer, hiding his origin. Most often, he visited the village of Merkushinskoye, located near the city of Verkhoturye, where he prayed in a wooden church.

With the gospel about the Triune God, about eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven, righteous Simeon walked through the surrounding villages. He was not averse to the Voguls of other religions, the indigenous inhabitants of this region, who fell in love with the saint for his pure life. With the help of the grace of God, the righteous Simeon awakened in the hearts of the Voguls the desire for a virtuous life. In the virgin Siberian taiga, he indulged in the Thought of God, seeing in every living being the ineffable wisdom of "Who created everything."

The ascetic never remained idle. He was good at sewing fur coats and, bypassing the villages, worked in the houses of the peasants, not accepting any reward for his labor. To avoid being praised for his work, righteous Simeon left it unfinished and left the customers. For this he had to endure insults and even beatings, but he accepted them with humility and prayed for his offenders. Thus he attained perfect humility and non-covetousness.

Saint Simeon prayed a lot for the strengthening of the newly enlightened inhabitants of Siberia in the faith. The ascetic combined his prayer with the feat of kneeling on a stone in the dense taiga. Ten versts from Merkushin, on the banks of the Tura River, the ascetic had a secluded place where he would fish. But here, too, he showed abstinence: he caught just as much fish as he needed for his daily food.

The blessed end of the holy man followed among the great deeds of fasting and prayer. He died in 1642 and was buried at the Merkushinsky churchyard near the church of the Archangel Michael.

The Lord glorified His saint, who left everything earthly for the sake of serving Him alone. In 1692, 50 years after the death of the saint, the inhabitants of the village of Merkushinskoye miraculously found the revealed incorruptible body of a righteous man whose name they forgot. Soon, numerous healings began to occur from the relics that appeared. A paralyzed man was healed, and other healings followed. Metropolitan Ignatius of Siberia (Rimsky-Korsakov, 1692-1700) sent people to examine the facts. One of them, Hierodeacon Nikifor Amvrosiev, prayed to God on the way and imperceptibly sank into a light doze. Suddenly he saw in front of him a man in white clothes, middle age, his hair was light brown. With a kind glance, he looked at Nicephorus and at the latter's question: "Who are you?" - the one who appeared answered: "I am Simeon Merkushinsky" - and became invisible.

In the "Iconographic Original" on April 16 it says: "Holy and righteous Simeon of Merkushinsky and Verkhotursky, like a new miracle worker in Siberia; the likeness of Rus, Brada and Vlasa on the head of aka Kozma Bezsrebrennik; the vestments on it are simple, Russian. "

Metropolitan Ignatius, convinced of the incorruption of the relics of Saint Simeon, exclaimed: “I also testify that these are truly the relics of a righteous and virtuous person: in everything they are similar to the relics of ancient saints. This righteous man is like Alexy, Metropolitan of Moscow, or Sergius of Radonezh, for he was honored by God to be incorruptible, like these lamps of the Orthodox faith. "

And now, through the prayers of Saint Simeon of Verkhoturye, the Lord reveals grace-filled help, consolation, strengthening, admonition, healing of souls and bodies and deliverance from evil and unclean spirits. Troubled travelers through the prayers of the saint receive deliverance from death. Especially often Siberians turn with prayers to the Verkhotursky miracle worker for eye diseases and all kinds of paralysis.

On September 12, 1704, with the blessing of Metropolitan Philotheus of Tobolsk, the holy relics of righteous Simeon of Verkhotursky were transferred from the church in honor of the Archangel Michael to the Verkhoturye monastery in the name of St. Nicholas. On this day, the Church celebrates the second memory of the holy righteous Simeon of Verkhoturye (the first - December 18).

A Brief Life of the Righteous Simeon of Verkhotursky (Merkushinsky)

Pra-ved-ny Si-me-on Ver-ho-tur-skiy ro-dyl-Xia in the beginning of the 17th century in the Eu-ro-Pei part of Russia in the family good luck. According to God, he left the honor and earthly godliness and went to the Urals ... In C-bi-ri, the right-wing C-me-he lived as a simple country-nickname, hiding his origin. More often than not, he sowed the se-lo Mer-ku-shin-sky, na-ho-div-she-e-Xia neda-le-ko from go-ro-da Ver-ho-tu -rya, where prayed in the de-vian-noy church.

With the blessing of the Three-one God, of eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven, the righteous Si-me-he walked around nym se-le-ni-yam. He is not a stranger and is not a stranger to the gulls, the indigenous inhabitants of this land, who are in love with go for his clean life. With the help of blah-go-da-ti God-zh-zh-she right-ved-si-me-he pro-dal in the hearts of the vo-gu-lov striving for good ro-de-noy life. In the virgin si-bir-tai-ge, he betrayed Bo-go-cape, in every living being, see-dya is inescapable -nuyu pre-wisdom "So-your-riv-she-go all."

The mover never stayed idle. He ho-ro-sho knew how to sew shu-would and, ob-ho-dya se-la, worked in the houses of the peasants, did not take-may for work-dy-ka- ko-ho-on-citizens-de-niya. In order to escape praise for his work, the right-wing C-me-he left her unsuccessful and went away from the orders ... For this, he had to do-re-n-s-s-le-n-s-le-niya and even in fights, but he received them with the media and prayed -s about your-their offenses-chi-kah. So he attained the utmost peace of mind and carry-on.

I prayed a lot to saint Si-me-on about strengthening in the ve-re no-question-shining life-te-lei Si-bi-ri. His mo-lit-wu in-mover-nick-co-united with in-mo-mo ko-le-no-pre-clone-no-th-i-nia on the stone in the dre-mu-chi ge. Ten versts from the Mer-ku-shi-na on the be-re-gu of the Tu-ry river, the dvigator had a solitary place, where the lo-vil ry- boo. But here, too, he showed abstinence: ry-would he-would-shaft exactly as much as he needed for the day-to-day pro-pi-ta-niya.

Bla-wen-naya con-chi-na saintly husband after-to-va-la among-di ve-li-kih in-move-a hundred and mo-lit-you. He died in 1642 and was in gre-ben on Mer-ku-shin-skom in-go-st at the temple of Ar-khi-stra-ti-ga Mi-ha-i- la.

The Lord has glorified His-th-please, who has left all earthly services to serve Him to the One-mu. In 1692, 50 years later, after the end of the saint, zhi-te-li se-la Mer-ku-shin-sko-chu-des-nym ob-ra -from about-re-whether they opened-up-she-e-xia imperishable body of pra-ved-no-ka, the name of some-ro-go they for-would-whether. Soon, many healings began to come from the manifested power. Was healed once-for-a-pa-li-chom man, followed by other healings. Mit-ro-po-lit Sibir-sky Ig-na-ty (Roman-kor-sa-kov, 1692-1700) sent people for osvi-de-tel-stvo-va-nia fact-tov. One of them, hiero-di-a-con Ni-ki-for Am-vro-si-ev, in the way, mo-lil-Xia Bo-gu and nez-met-no-load-zil-Xia in light-kuyu dre-mo-tu. Suddenly he saw before himself a man in white clothes, middle age, his hair was go color. With a kind glance at home, he looked at Ni-ki-fo-ra and at the following question: "Who are you?" - appeared-shy-that answered: "I am S-me-on Mer-ku-shin-sky", - and became invisible.

In "Iko-no-pis-nom Pod-lin-ni-ke" under 16 ap-re-la means: "Holy and righteous S-me-on Mer-ku-shin -sky and Ver-ho-tur-sky, like in C-bi-ri new chu-do-you-rets; in-do-bi-eat rus, bra-da and power-sy on the head like Koz-we Without-silver-ren-no-ka; ri-zy on it is simple, Russian. "

Mit-ro-po-lit Ig-na-tiy, be convinced of the imperishability of the powerful saint of Si-meon, ec-click-zero: “Swe-de-tel-stvuyu and I, that in-is-ti-well, this is the power of the right-wed-no-go and good-ro-de-tel-no-go man: in everything they are like the might of the ancient saints. This great-ved-nickname in-to-ben, or to Ser-giy Ra-to-nezh-sko-mu, for he was able to beat from God incorruptibility, like this light-til-ni-kam ve-ry Pra-in-glorious. "

And now, according to the prayers of the holy Si-meo-na Ver-ho-tur-sko, the Lord is showing blah-d-date help, consoling nie, strengthening-le-nie, fo-zo-le-nie, healing souls and te-woods and getting rid of bows and unclean spirits. Trouble-yu-th-th-th-ni-ki on the prayer-lit-you of the holy will-get-cha-get-out from death. Oso-ben-but often-one hundred si-bi-rya-ki ob-ra-shcha-yut-sya with mo-lit-va-mi to Ver-ho-tur-sko-mu chu-do-creator-tsu when eye diseases and all possible pa-pa-li-chah.

September 12, 1704, by the bliss of mit-ro-in-li-ta To-big-th Philo-fairy was-lo-so-very-but-no -re-not-seeding of the saints of the saints of the right-ved-no-go Si-meo-na Ver-ho-tur-sko-go from the temple in honor of Ar-khi-stra-ti-g Mi-ha-i-la in Ver-ho-tur-skiy mo-na-butt in the name of saint-te-la Ni-ko-lai. On this day, the Church celebrates the second memory of the holy right-ved-no Si-meo-na Ver-ho-tur-sko-go (the first is 18 de -kab-rya).

Complete life of the righteous Simeon of Verkhotursky (Merkushinsky)

Pra-ved-ny Si-me-on, son of blah-kin-ro-di-te-lei, ro-dyl-Xia outside the pre-de-l C-bi-ri in na-cha-le XVII eyelid. Dvo-rya-nin, according to the pro-walk, he has matured all worldly honors, retired from Russia for the Urals to Siberia and arrived in Ver-ho-tur-region. But the saint did not seize in the very go-ro-de Ver-ho-tu-rye, for he is from the world of the world-su-e-you, and the city of Ver -ho-tu-rye was from-the-walls then as a tor-th-th place, where it was difficult to lead a quiet life, as St. Simeon. Therefore, he stayed-no-vil-sya in the se-le Mer-ku-shin, which is from-one-hundred-i-lo from Ver-ho-tu-rya versts five-de-sit ... Sa-may pri-ro-da-th-th-hundred ras-po-la-ha-la saint-th-mu-ma to the bo-ho-cape and from-shel-no-che-skim -dam. Great cedars, thunderous spruces, thick woods, in some places beautiful red-li-us, vzdy-mav-shi-e -sya ska-leafy comfort-sy when-drawn-ka-ka-be-go-no-ka. He did not live a hundred-yan-but in the se-le Mer-ku-shin, but often left him, the country-no-one walked through the surrounding se-lam and de-rev-yam or left-nyal-Xia somewhere on the banks of the Tu-Ry river, pre-da-va-yas in different ways and in mo-lit-ve be- se-blowing with So-zda-te-lem. His firm faith in God, he gave everyone an example of the goodness of life. He didn’t want his hands to be left idle, but he himself condescended to pro-pi-ta-t. For-being about his good-natured pro-out-of-walking on earth, he wanted to do-to-do with-a-part-no-one of the Kingdom of Hri -sto-va and citizen-da-no-mountain-no Jeru-sa-li-ma. About the labor-to-love-biy of the great-ved-no-go Si-meo-on, there was no memory left in the posterity. He za-ni-mal-sya sewing fur coats with na-shiv-ka-mi and such an ob-ra-zom to-sta-val pro-pi-ta-nie se-be and po-mo-gal other. By the time-me-us the right-winged Si-me-he was removed to a secluded place on the be-re-gu of the Tu-ry river, in ten verses -stakh from Mer-ku-shi-na, and here for-no-small-Xia already-nye ry-would. And do-se-le indicate-zy-va-yut this place on the right-woo be-re-gu. See-me-on sa-dil-sya here under the ra-ki-di-stand spruce on the stone, which is still there. So for-nya-ti-i-mi was holy: in winter time - sewing fur coats, in summer - fishing-la ry-would.

God-ga-ty media-re-ni-em, righteous-ved-si-me-he is from-li-chal-Xia full nes-ty-zha-tel-ness. For-ni-ma-yas we sew fur coats, he walked around the surrounding villages and worked in the houses of various peasants. Often, with this, it came to-go-di-el, bla-wen-no, to experience various inconveniences and deprivations, but he is all over-but-strong, glory and bla-go-da-rya Gos-yes. Often, yes, when the work is in the house, Si-me-on tai-no-dil from the house. For this he was condemned, yes, but saint, according to his-th-th custom, ter-ne-li-in ne-re-no-forces all na-re-ka-niya. Then it seems that the holy husband does so in order to avoid paying for his labor.

Holy Si-me-he steadily sowed a temple in the name of Ar-khi-stra-ti-g of God Mi-ha-i-la, who was in the se-le Mer-ku- bus. He greets everyone with respect to everyone, he tries to serve everyone, he can help everyone. St. Si-me-he was extremely der-jean, he loved solitude, from-chal-Xia chi-one not only to those forest, but also to the spirit of noah, to all the pi-tal love is impartial.

So under-see-hall-sya right-ved-ny Si-me-on and, not yet alive to old-growth, with faith went to the Gos-in-du, Ko-to- ro-mu as a true and faithful slave served all the days of his life. His blissful con-chi-na after-to-wa-la about 1642. His honest body was-lo-g-be-but in Mer-ku-shin neda -le-ko from the church in the name of the holy Mi-ha-i-la, Ar-khi-st-ra-ti-ga of the Forces of Heaven.

Not a lot of the news about the movement-no-thing-life of this right-ved-no-man reached us, but it is clearer than any of the things say about the goodness of the life of St. Si-meo-na-cure-lee, who-that-rye with an abundant stream is-te-ka-yut from the mighty of this ve-li-who-please God has already been more than three hundred years old. Humble in his life, Si-me-he did not like the glorification of the people, because of the be-gal, you are so su-et- new world. For this reason, the memory of him is already on-chi-na-la, but it was not pleasing to God that the one who is all earth -was-was-ra-di Him.

In 1692, he noticed that the coffin of the great-Ved-no Si-meo-na became sub-mother from the earth. Everyone was like that, but even more amazement grew, when, through the cleavage, e-xia boards-ki thunder-boo-ki see-de-li imperishable remains. And meanwhile, there was no longer a man-ve-ka, who could have remembered the name of the great-ved-no, the coffin of which, so chu-des- but he began to appear. All the zhi-te-whether they were surprised by such an unusual-tea-no-th phenomenon and blah-go-da-ri-whether Gos-po-yes, yav-la-yu- more faithful servants of His. Soon, the blah-go-go-vey-ny-chi-ta-ting of the new-in-the-revealed powers even more intensified, when they became -ver-shah-Xia chu-do-you-re-nia.

At that very time, one in-e-in-yes - An-to-niy Sa-ve-lov - had to go to Ner-Chinsk. The servant of this in-th-water-dy Gri-go-riy, a year before that, fell into a grave illness: all his bodies were weak, so that he I could neither walk nor do something with my own hands. Not wanting to leave his servant, in-th-in-yes he took him with him to the place of a new service. But in the do-ro-ge Gri-go-ry it has done a bad job. Their path lay through the Ver-ho-tu-rye. Arriving there, Gri-go-rii learned from the local residents about the power of no-in-the-light-no-go pra-ved-no-ka and that when thunder-be-he-da-are-sya-healing. Hear these ras-say-zy, Gri-go-riy began to think: “It can be, the Lord will give me a cure according to the prayer of His th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-th-no-ka ". Therefore, he pro-forces his-th-th state-in-de-na, so that he would allow him to go to Mer-ku-shi-no. Sa-ve-lov posed it to him. And now, having arrived in Mer-ku-shi-no, Gri-go-rii over the mo-g-la pra-ved-no-go in-pro-forces sleep-cha-la from-ser-live can- le-ben saint-mu Ar-hee-stra-ti-gu Mi-ha-i-lu, and then sing pa-ni-hee-du with gro-be no-in-yav-len -that is holy. Diligently prayed to Gri-go-ri that the Lord would give him healing according to the prayers of His-th-please. After that, he took the earth from the grave, rubbed the members of his body with it, and that hour, he felt-the-shaft is so-ver-shen -but good-ro-vym. In advance, he began to glorify the Gos-po-da and rass-say-zy-val around-zha-yu-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh.

Among the hearing-shav-shikh about the healing of Gri-go-ry was a servant in-e-water-si-bir-go An-drei Na-rysh-ki-na Iliya Go-lo-va-chev. He was greatly distressed by his eyes: on them there was an evil-good-quality-nah-nah-chol, and from the great ill Elijah yes- I could not look. Fearing utterly to lose his sight, he turned to the Lord with a zealous prayer for healing nii. Gri-go-riy found him in such a way, he himself recently received healing from his ailment according to my -lit-you St. Si-meo-na. Gri-go-ri began to console Elijah: “Do not bet-da-vai-sya pe-cha-li and from-cha-i-niyu; remember how sweet-lo-heart the Lord. Wonders of His bla-go-de-i-nia ro-du man-ve-che-mu. And on me, a sinner, He recently showed His mercy, healed me from a heavy ailment, according to the prayer of pra-ved-no the man-ve-ka of God, but-in-the-lin-no-si-bir-go chu-do-creator. Deal with a prayer to this pleasing of God and you can get light and healing. "

At the request of Elijah, Gri-go-ri gave him land from the gro-ba of the mer-ku-shin-go chu-do-creator. Elijah, believing that the great-Vedic-nickname could-do-it, attached this earth to the eyes. On the next night, during sleep, the painful felt that from his eyes you de-la-em-Xia some kind of liquid. Waking up, he noticed that blood was flowing from his eyes on his face. When, however, they took it off, then together with her from-la and sa-may opu-khol. Elijah came in a hurry in the morning to his gos-di-well and told him about everything that happened ; with this, he pro-strength at N-lysh-ki-on the position-to-le-ny to go to the Mer-ku-shi-but on the clo-no-nie-nie-m-shm no-in-yen -go-chu-do-creator-tsa and got-chil-chil on that agreement.

The daughter of the same Na-lysh-ki-na stra-da-la is also an eye-sickness. Sly-sha about chu-de-sah in Mer-ku-shin, in-e-in-yes from-pra-vil-sya with her in that se-le-tion. Here, after pa-ni-hi-dy over the thunder-bom of pra-ved-ni-ka pain-na-na-chi-la cure, as soon as it is applied la to the eyes of their land, taken from the grave of the holy.

The rumor about the manifestation of the power quickly reached and to To-bolska. At that time, the Ver-ho-tur-skaya country came to the Si-bir diocese. To-big-sky hierarchs with a special zeal for blue-yes-whether for a hundred-one right-in-glorious faith. Meanwhile, in this country, well, were we from the right-la-e-we different people, deviation-niv-shi-e-Xia from the true-no-go -slava. So-so-so-big-saints-te-whether often-one hundred sa-mi so-ver-sha-whether ob-ez-dy his diocese or by-ru-cha-whether this ko-moo-li-bo from his-their help-nikov. In 1693, for this purpose, the Cle-Rik of the S-Bir-sko Ar-Hi-Herei, by the name of Mat-Fei, arrived in Ver-kho-tu-r'e. From Ver-ho-tu-rya he na-pra-vil-sya to Mer-ku-shi-no. Here he saw a coffin with incorruptible remains coming out of the ground. Be assured of the action of this amazing phenomenon, Matthey brought about this to his own power. ke, mit-ro-in-li-that To-bolsko-yog-na-tiyu, not long before this, came to his diocese. In addition to this, the mentioned Mat-Fairy in-ve-lel to the priest-no-ku of that church Ioan-nu An-dre-evi-chu and tserkov-no- to the old-ro-st with pri-ho-zha-na-mi, to put a small log house, or "lub-chik", over the thunder-bom. This was immediately arranged. Soon after this, in 1694, with the thunder of the right-ved-no-go, the next miracle healing was going on ... In Ver-ho-tu-rye once lived one push-quarry named after John Gri-gor-ev. He is stig-la severe illness: he is utterly weak, so that, if you don't want to be healthy, he has already begun to to death. Disease all stepped up. And then, one-click-dy, while walking in such a-go-go-n-lo-nii, in a dream he heard-khal vo-los: “John, go to the village Mer- ku-shi-no; ve-whether the priest-no-ku of that church-vi from-sing mo-le-ben to the holy-moo Ar-khan-ge-lu God Mi-ha-i-lu, and you-ho -da-sh-go gro-ba - co-top-sew pa-ni-hi-du, and you will be healthy. "

Pro-boo-shi-shi from sleep, John immediately sent his son Ste-fa-na to the priest in the village Mer-ku-shi-no ... There, at the request of Ste-fa-na, mo-le-ben-to-mu Ar-hee-stra-ti-gu Mi-ha-i-lu and from-pe-ta pa- ni-hi-da over the gro-bom pra-ved-no-ka. At this very time, in Ver-ho-tu-r'e, the weak-lazy John felt-like he was better, so that he was in so-hundred-i-nii do-take-si without on-the-side-her in-might-shi to his-th-th-th-in-de Ioan-nu Tsik-le-ru, rass - told him about his healing and how he heard a voice in a dream. Having heard his story, in-th-in-yes told him: "Do not forget the same sweetness of God."

A week later, John from-great-wil-Xia together with all his home in Mer-ku-shi-no. Co-ver-shiv over the gro-bom of the pra-ved-no-go pa-ni-hi-du, he took the earth from the gro-ba and began to wrap his body with it and immediately I felt quite healthy, as if I had never been sick.

Not only John himself was trying to get help from above, but even his daughter, 15-year-old girl, was able to -sto-and-las-to-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-l-t-you-in-th-t-l-te-la out-of-the-le-nie from his-th-ill-ga. Her face has become covered with an inept structure. Then her father, over himself, recently experienced miraculous healing with the thunder of righteousness, with the firm doy ve-roy ob-ra-til-sya to this pleasing. Taking his family, he went to the Mer-ku-shi-no, and there he-pro-forces the priest-ni-ka co-ver-sew pa-ni-hee-du over the gro-bom of the pra-ved-no-ka. Since then, there was not yet known the name of this pleasing of God, then in-mi-na-if news". After this, more-la-shchaya about-ter-la-earth-lei from the gro-ba of the holy one, his face and half-lu-chi-la according to the mo-lit-you his full healing.

In the same 1694, there was a new chu-do. Ver-ho-tur-sky in-e-water-yes John Tsik-ler himself raced about this preo-sacred-no-mu mit-ro-in-li-tu To-pain-sko- Mu Ig-na-tiyu, who came to Ver-ho-tu-r'e for the consecration of a newly built temple in the name of the Pre-Saint Tro-i -tsy.

One of his servants, by the name of Peter, did not touch the horse. Suddenly, the horse took off-strength, threw Peter off of himself, smashed it on one leg of the bone. Peter, yes, he himself could not lift himself from the ground, but he was very much ras-fluff. Suffering, he vowed to descend into the village of Mer-ku-shi-no, to serve-to-live to mo-le-ben to the holy-to-mu Mi-ha-i-lu Ar-khan-ge- lu and ot-sing pa-ni-hi-du over the thunder-bom no-in-go chu-do-tsa. But due to a strong pain, he could not do it with a punch. “Therefore, he turned to me with a request to let him go to Mer-ku-shi-no and give lo-sha-dey, which I -ka-hall immediately use-full-thread ", - rass-said-zy-val Tsik-ler mit-ro-in-li-tu.

In Mer-ku-shin, at the request of Peter, sleep-cha-la from-ser-mo-le-ben Ar-hee-stra-ti-gu Mi-ha-i-lu, then pa-ni-hi-du over the thunder of pra-ved-no. Peter took the earth from the grave of the saint and began to grow the bruised place with it. At this time, and so-ver-sh-los chu-do according to the unrecognized miracle of God. That hour Peter's illness ceased, the ooze fell out, and he began to walk, as if he had never been sick. All vi-maidens are chu-to pro-sl-vi-if Gos-po-yes, His ve-li-to-go Ar-hee-stra-ti-ga Mi-ha-i-la and again about -si-yav-she-go-ved-no-ka.

Soon there was-so-very-but the first osvi-de-tel-stvo-va-nie of the saints of the righteous-no-go. The above-named mit-ro-lit To-bolsky Ig-na-tiy, circumambulating the diocese, on-right-lal-Xia from Pe-ly-mi to the city of Ver-ho-tu-rye, where he is-me-re-val-sya to consecrate the cathedral. Arriving in the de-rev-nu Ka-ra-ul-noe at a distance of seven miles from Mer-ku-shi-na, he remained-no-vil-sya here on a certain swarm time. Here Abbot Dal-ma-tovsky obi-te-l Isa-ak came to him and said: “Neda-le-ko from-syu-da sto-it se-lo Mer- ku-shi-no with a temple in the name of the holy Ar-khi-stra-ti-ga Mi-ha-i-la; at this church, there is a coffin coming out of the earth. Wouldn't it be good-because-for-only, ya-du-ka, to inspect this coffin myself? Already a lot of miracles and knowledge have been with him. "

But mit-ro-po-lit himself did not want to witness the coffin, but sent for that to Mer-ku-shi-no Isa-a-ka, igu-me- on Dal-ma-tov-sko-go, and together with him the key-cha-rya To-bol-go so-bo-ra Priest John, another priest Joas-fa, dia -ko-na-Peter-ra and hiero-dia-co-na Dal-ma-tov-sko-go-na-st-rya Va-si-li-da. Po-slan-ny quick-ro reached-stig-li se-la Mer-ku-shi-na and pri-stu-pi-li to osvi-de-tel-stvo-va-niyu coffin-ni-tsy with a stop -ka-mi pra-ved-no-ka. Their gaze was presented with all the bodies of the pra-ved-no-ka: head-va, per-si, ribs, camp and no-gi - everything remained in the center lo-sti, the skin of words-but grew-la-to the bones, only a little bit turned into dust. This is the first osvi-de-tel-stvo-va-va-nie after-to-va-lo 18 de-cab-rya 1694

Meanwhile-me-no and mit-ro-po-lit, you-hear-shav the morning-more weak-word in Ka-ra-ul-n, na-pra-vil-sya from the rest -my own-and-mi companions-ni-ka-mi in the village Mer-ku-shi-but, for the path to the city of Ver-ho-tu-rye lay through this se-le-tion. Arriving in Mer-ku-shi-no, mit-ro-lit a church in the name of Ar-khi-stra-ti-ga Mi-ha-i-la. Then he asked the igu-me-na Isa-a-ka: did they open the coffin-ni-tsu and what was it about? Himself mit-ro-po-lit was in unresponsiveness and misunderstanding, when he heard the answer to the igu-me-na. But my-lo-gray-dyy Gos-go soon-re-lo-lived the limits of his ko-le-ba-ni-yam. On the same day, mit-ro-lit, I felt pain in my left eye. The preo-sacred dream-cha-la-doo-mal, that his illness came from the winter frost and wind. But suddenly, with a word-but-beckoning, he flashed-well-la, he had the idea that the disease had stigmatized him for not wanting to master himself. shchy pra-ved-no. Then he began to pray and cried out: “Oh, please, me, Gos-po-di, and heal my eye. And you, holy righteous-ved-nickname, do not be angry at me. I promise that after the Divine li-tur-gii, if it will be pleasing, I myself will come to your holy powers and look at them myself. " Immediately the pain subsided, and he again began to see well with his eyes. In accordance with his promise, the preo-sacred after the li-tur-gii together with the igu-me-na-mi, the priest -mi and dia-ko-na-mi from-pra-vil-sya to the manifest-len-no-mo-bu. Having opened the coffin with a blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah, he was looking for the same thing that Hegu-men Isa-ak co-communicated to him: he saw affairs, that all the bodies of the pra-ved-no-ka are so-ver-shen-but whole, only there were no fingers on their hands. The bones were tightly covered with a cloth, so that the word Pisaniya was used: With the ice, my bone is mine (), in-gra-ball-nye same pe-le-us turned to dust. Then, the full bliss of the mit-ro-lit pro-vo-gla-force: “I also sweep, that in- ti-well, this is the power of the pra-ved-no-go and good-ro-de-tel-no-go man; in everything they are like the powers of the ancient saints. This great-ved-nickname in-to-ben, or to Ser-gy Ra-to-nezh-mu, for he was able to beat from God incorruptibility, like this light-til-ni-kam ve-ry-in-glorious! ".

After this mit-ro-lit, the hall again closed the coffin. And it was surprising that the coffin itself was new, although, according to the local people, it was - have been in the earth for more than five-ten years. Co-ver-shiv pa-ni-hi-du, his again-va for-sy-pa-whether earth-lay on a quarter, with pro-of-not-se-no words: Gos-pod- nya earth and use it (). After this, the preo-saint went out of the cha-so-ni to the co-brav-she-mu-sya on-ro-du and asked: “Isn't there among you? -lo-ve-ka, someone would remember, who is sin-ben in this place? "

From the environment on-ro-da, the 70-year-old old man Afa-na-siy stepped out and said: “No one remembers the name in gre-ben-no -th here is the great-ved-no-ka, only there was a word among us that this church was the first to have in-gra-ben ka-coy- then blah-th-th-th-th-yy and good-ro-de-tel-ny husband. " Then he told me that he knew about the pro-out-going-de-nii and pod-viz-no-th-life of this blah-th-th-th-th-th-th-th -zha. Hearing all this, mit-ro-po-lit say-hall so-brav-shim: “Cha-yes, pray Gos-do-do Bo-gu, yes He reveals our name is pra-ved-no, and I, a sinner, myself will pray about the same Lord.

Saying goodbye to the na-ro-house and giving him his ar-hi-pas-tyr-bla-go-word, pre-consecrated from-pra-vil-sy to the city of Ver-ho-tu-rye. Do-ro-ge, he thought about everything that had been, thought-mal about the fact that if the Lord from-for-lil showed the power of His-th-please -ka, then He also reveals the name given to this pra-ved-no-ku under the Holy Cross. Already ten miles away from the se-la Mer-ku-shi-na preo-sacred. Amidst his-their minds-ley-ny, he was-loaded-up in the dre-mo-tu, and out-of-zap-but in a dream-like v-de-nii it was he has a lot of n-ro-da, in-pro-sha-yu-shch-go about the name of the great-ved-no-ka. At the same time, the preo-sacred usly-khal voice: "Si-meonom call him." After that, someone seemed to repeat: "Si-meo-nom call him." For the third time, someone called the pra-ved-no-ka diminutive las-ka-tel-nim-name, like ro-di-te-li na-zy-va have their children.

I’m very good at it and I’m full-of-nil-that-where-holy-ny: he immediately woke up and understood that he was seeing over. Surprised by it, the preo-saint arrived in Ver-ho-tu-rye, where he remained in the Ni-ko-la-ev-skom mo- na-st-re. About the vi-de-nii that was on his way, he gave the ar-khi-mand-ri-tam to Ser-giy and Alek-san-dru and the igu-me-nu Dal-ma- comrade Isa-a-ku. Sly-sha ras-skaz of the preo-sacred-no-go, they wondered and said that the first name-of-the-name of the right-ved-no-ka -ka-zy-va-et, how should-it-read-read pra-ved-no-ka after the end-chi-ny, the second ex-voice denotes-cha-it, how did you call him during his life, but on-nam-n-va-pra-ved-ni-ka las-ka-tel-nam-na-ka-zy-va-e, that is the name -or his ro-di-te-li. The preo-saint said that he did so too. After this, they can-bla-go-da-ri-whether Gos-po-da God, wondrous in His saints. From that time on, mit-ro-lit.To-bolsky po-ve-lel to name the new-in-the-flesh-but-th-th pleasing of God Si-meo-nom.

At about the same time, there was still a see-de-nie hiero-di-a-ko-nu Va-si-li-du, by-listening-no-ku you-she-na -called-no-go Isa-a-ka Dal-ma-tov-sko. After ve-black-not-right-vi-la hiero-di-a-con Va-si-lid si-dia za-dre-mal, and suddenly he appears in vie-de-nii to - there was a lot of people, asking for the name of no-in-the-len-no-go chu-do-tsa. And once a voice was heard: “Why are you a lot in-pro-sha-e-te? You already know that his name is C-me-on. " Having passed-asleep, the hiero-di-a-con denotes-me-no-shaft se-by the sign of the cross; he realized that he had been able to see more, and talked about the wonderful dream of his preo-sacred-no-mu Ig-na -tiy.

Having sown the city of Ver-ho-tu-rye and consecrated here the cathedral church on December 27, 1694, mit-ro-po-lit went to-rat- but in To-bolsk. On to-ro-ge he again went to Mer-ku-shi-no. Along with him, there was a ver-ho-tur-sky in-e-water-da Tsik-ler, saints-niki, dia-kons and a great lo of the top-ho-tur-dwellers. At this time, the priest-nickname na-ho-div-shey-sya there churches in the name of Ar-khi-stra-ti-ga Mi-ha-i-la John ras-ska-hall mit-ro -by-whether-that the day before the arrival of the preo-sacred-no-go in Mer-ku-shi-but he after-ve-black-not-go-vi-la fast -ro forgot and in a dream he saw the following: the coffin with the power of the pra-ved-no-ka-re-carried to the church, and to him, John- well, over-le-zhit to co-top the li-ty at this gro-ba. Not knowing what name he should follow to know the deceased, he was in a state of disbelief, and suddenly he heard a voice: “For -Why are you not-mind-you-eat? Call him Si-meon. " When the priest rass-told about this, it turned out that he saw that he was able to see this in the same evening, to - where the hiero-di-a-con Va-si-lid also learned through the vision in a dream about the name of the pra-ved-nik.

On the next day, mit-ro-lit once again wit-de-tel-st-val-sacred powers and, with blah-th-th-ve-no, lo-would-hall them. Once again, he announced to everyone in the presence of the holy powers of the right-ved-no-go Si-meo-na Ver-ho-tur-sko th, and that's all, giving blah-th-yes-re-nie Gos-do-do, we-klo-ni-lied to the power but-in-n-th-n-th-n-ka and become in the heart-heart-mind-lee-nii lo-be-zat them. With this, the top-ho-tur-sky in-e-in-yes for-the-de-tel-val-shaft, that the power of the holy Si-meo-na in-is-ti-well on -add-us to the imperishable powers of Ki-e-vo-Pe-cher-sky in-motion-nikov.

The most holy Yig-na-tiy himself lived on the coffin of the most-Vedic-no-go-go-ne-well and pri-ka-hall to talk to him about everything information about the life and chu-de-sah of St. Si-meo-na. As a consequence, on the basis of what he himself saw and heard, he compiled the news of the manifestation of honest powers, oh first chu-de-sah saint and aka-fist to him.

Since that time, everything has become more and more often to give healings unsuccessful according to the prayers of pra-ved-no-go Si-meo-na. One-but such-a-cure for-wit-de-tel-is-va-but with the same mit-ro-in-li-tom Ig-na-ti-em. After the occurrence of the Mer-ku-shi-na, the preo-sacred together with his-and-mi companions-ni-ka-mi na-pra-vil-sya in clan Ir-bit, where at that time the yar-mar-ka was discovered. In this go-ro-de na-ho-dyl-Xia a certain hiero-di-a-con named after Sav-va-tiy. He severely suffered from a toothache and from-not-mo-gal from a terrible lo-mo-you in his legs, so that he could walk, and then only with ve-li-chai-shim labor. Na-ka-nune, 12 yan-varya, before the day of the holiday in honor of ve-li-ko-mu-che-ni-tsy Ta-ti-a-ny, ve-che-rum , not long before the all-night vigil, Sav-va-tiy fell asleep and suddenly saw in a dream, as if he had taken a blissful word from mit-ro-po-li-ta, from-pra-vil-sya in Mer-ku-shi-no, and here he is standing in the cha-so-so over the thunder of Pra-Ved-no. Igu-men Isa-ak opened his power to him, threw himself down in front of the coffin, he cried out: “The great-Ved-nickname of God, holy Si-me -he, do-mi-lui me-nya and mo-lit-va-mi your-and-mi heal my ills! " And suddenly he sees: St. Si-me-he, came-to-come-shis, sat on the coffin, on it - that sa-may pe-le-na, which-lo-lived mit-ro-po-lit Ig- na-tiy. And the right-wed-hall said to Sav-va-tiyu: "Star-che!" Then, on the head of Sav-va-tia, his hand is alive, the holy second-rich-but told him: “Po-di, po-di, Sav-va -ty ". And, ob-ra-to-van-ny, he would be-right-vil-sya in the church of Ar-khi-stra-ti-ga Mi-ha-i-la and became ras-ska-zy -to tell the priest of To-bol-so-bo-ra Yosi-fu and hiero-di-a-ko-nu Pet-ru about how he was able to see the righteous Nika. Then Sav-va-tiy woke up and felt that his ills had passed. Then he went-ry-cho began to bless God and glorify the pra-ved-no Si-meo-na Si-bir-sko. This healing took place in Ir-bi-those at the time when there was a lot of people gathered there. Everyone was surprised-la-fox and blah-go-da-ri-li Gos-yes, in-glory-she-go people no-in-go ho-da-taya and mo-lit-ven-no -ka.

Soon it became known-but about the new miracle. The key of the congregation of the Sibir church, Priest John, as you mentioned above, was sent to master the powers of the right ved-no-go together with hegu-men Isa-a-com. Having finished this task, they entered the house of the priest-nik-ka se-la Mer-ku-shi-na John. Klyu-char John, tired-ny to-ro-goy, quickly fell asleep and saw the vision. He dreamed that he was in the church of the holy Ar-khi-stra-ti-ga Mi-ha-i-la in Mer-ku-shin and in the middle of the church, there is a coffin with the power of pra-ved-no; good-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-so-but-but-moo how it would be in time every day throughout the church ; the preo-sacred Yig-na-tiy stands right there, and around his head-lo-you it is also but-sits-Xia bla-go-uah. And in the amazement, the key-char heard a voice-los, addressed to him: “Why are you so amazed-la-eat-sya, why do you not believe -you se-mu? So pro-glorify the Lord God of this great-ved-no-ka, like Vasiliya. "

St. Si-me-he, yes, after his end-chi-we, did not give a-wave to spread in his country for-for-wandering-de-n-yam, about -tym of the true veneration of Christ-sti-an-skoy. The next year after the opening of the power of this great-ved-nik, in 1696, January 14, mit-ro-po-lit Ig-na- tiy, worrying about the spiritual spa-session of his past-you, po-sy-la-et for the vision of the diocese hiero-mo-na-ha Iz- ra-and-la and so-bor-no-go hiero-di-a-ko-na Ni-ki-fo-ra (Am-vro-si-e-va). They should have-should have-watched, where and how to use-in-ve-du-believe the true faith of Chri-sto-vu, fool-zo-zo-nya-yu- and to encourage those who are. Arriving in Ver-ho-tu-rye, they saw that in the very go-ro-de, and in the vicinity of it, the people are strong sya pra-v-glory-viya and zhi-vet blah-th-th-th-in. They were told that there were-l-di-di-di-di-di-di-niv-shi-e-Xia from right-to-glory, but they did not last long lived in these places: some of them soon got away from their for-wandering, others with-all for-ki-well-if that locality. The sent ones could not help but see in this a miracle in a way from above; so they carried the mit-ro-to-li-tu Ig-na-tii, and the preo-saint also recognized in this phenomenon a special bla -go-le-nie St. Si-meo-na to those places.

Soon, a new chu-do was going on. The sent mit-ro-po-li-tom went to To-bolsk. Their path lay through the se-lo Mer-ku-shi-no. Coming closer to Mer-ku-shi-well, one of the po-slans is hiero-di-a-con Ni-ki-for (Am-vro-si-ev), si-dya in sa-nyah, began to pray, so that the Lord would help-beat him in a decent manner in-to-thread-Xia power of His-th-glorious please. At this time, he was loaded into a light dre-mo-that and suddenly he saw in front of himself a husband in white clothes, an average -s-ta, about 25 years old, his hair was-whether ru-so-go-t. Good-looking home, he looked at Ni-ki-fo-ra; the last one asked him: "Servant of God, tell me, how are you called?" Then, when he appeared, he answered with an unusually venerable voice: "I am Si-me-on Mer-ku-shin-sky", - and with with these words I became invisible. The hiero-di-a-con immediately woke up, a shiver enveloped him at the thought of seeing-de-nii. Meanwhile, they arrived at Mer-ku-shi-no. Hiero-di-a-con Ni-ki-for with a heartfelt blah-go-ve-no-it and great fear in-clo-nil-imperishable mo- for this glorious pleasing of God, he said to the Lord, and immediately told everyone about the manifestation that he had in a dream ...

One man-century, Peter Ka-li-nin, from the river Mi-a-sa ras-ska-hall in the Mer-ku-shin next. In Feb-ra-le 1700, he was with to-va-ri-shcha-mi his-i-mi from-pra-vil-Xia to fishing. Suddenly on them na-pa-li ta-ta-ry, grab-ti-li and drove them with me for a whole two days. By ve-four on the third day of ta-ta-ry pe-re-vya-whether his-their captives and soon after-sleep-if a sound sleep. Then Peter, who had been able to live all his life on God’s sweetness, began to cry out to the right-ved-no-th C-meo-well: “Pra- ved-nik God-si-me-on, help me and get me out of these other-ple-men-nikov! " At the same time, he gave a promise to go to the Mer-ku-shi-no and co-top the pa-ni-hi-du over the thunder of pra-ved-no. As soon as he gave a promise, at once from his hands and feet he spasmed strong bonds, loo-wives, by the enemies. Whoa-bla-go-da-riv go-ry-cho Gos-yes for the help, he took two to-her and returned to her.

The more-ras-ta-la rumor about the holy powers of Si-meon, the more the inhabitants of Ver-ho-tu-rya got stronger thought to honor a worthy manner of pra-ved-no-ka. Therefore, they were-on-measured-pe-re-not-st the power of St. Si-meo-na from se-la Mer-ku-shi-na to the city of Ver-ho-tu-rye. In 1702, he entered the ar-khi-pas-tyr-pre-table with a new mit-ro-lit Philo-fey, from-li-chav-shi-his-her-no- stu and zealous pro-in-ve-yes-no-one of the true faith of Christ. It was to him that the ver-ho-tur-dwellers approached him with a request for pe-re-not-se-nition of St. Si-meo-na. Oso-ben-no pro-si-li mit-ro-po-li-ta from the face of all the top-ho-tur-dwellers in-e-vo-da Alek-sei Ka-le- ting and ta-mo-feminine go-lo-va Pyotr Hu-dyakov. Mit-ro-po-lit Philo-fey, and he himself pi-tav-shy to the holy feeling of a deep-bo-th-th blah-go-th-niya, willingly gave his ar -hi-pas-tyr-bla-th-slo-ve-ning and resolved-sewed the pe-re-ne-sti power in the Ni-ko-la-ev-sky Ver-ho-tur-sky monastery.

When it was-lo-che-but this permission from the preo-sacred Philo-fairy, in Mer-ku-shi-no from-pra-vil-sy ar-hi-mand-rit Ni-ko-la-ev-sko-mo-na-st-ry Iz-ra-il. This is pro-is-ho-di-lo about the 1st number of September-teab-ry 1704, and pe-re-not-seeding was-lo-na-know-but-but by 8 sep-teab-ry. Ar-khi-mand-rit should have previously co-led the translation of the holy mighty into a new cancer. But at that time, a rainy day started, so a certain thought came to the head, blah-please-but- mu this pe-re-non-seeding of the mighty from Mer-ku-shi-na. So, dum-mal, yes, mention-me-well, Hu-dy-kov, the former ho-da-ta-em about their pe-re-not-se-nition. But St. Si-me-he solved this misunderstanding. Hu-dya-ko-wu in the time of sleep appeared, as if he was standing in the mer-ku-shin-temple and in front of him was a coffin with a holy mi might-shcha-mi, before the thunder-bom - ar-khi-mand-rit Iz-ra-il with a lot of people. Suddenly, a kind of blah-go-ear in the form of a stol-ba rose from the thunder-ba and went to go-ro-do Ver-ho-tu-ryu. From this, everything is clear that the righteous-no-mu is not against-re-not-seeding of his honest mighty in Ver-ho-tu-rye. Then, on September 8 or 9, it was very high-but-but-re-lo-ing of the mighty into a new crayfish. And for-a-cha-tel-but that from this day it stopped raining and na-stu-pi-la ti-haya good-ro-shaya-yes. 12 sep-teab-ry 1704 so-so-but-but and with-to-ba-yu-bla-th-no-no re-non-seeding of the honest powers of this glorious pleasing of God, who since then began to be named Ver-ho- tour skim. And until this day on September 12/25, September-Tyab-rya so-ver-sha-it-Xia tor-zhestven-no-no-va-tion in honor of St. Si-meo-na.

According to the pe-re-not-se-nition of the power to the city of Ver-ho-tu-rye from the ra-ki of the pra-ved-no-go with a new force, did it-flow chu-do-you-re-niya, of which-ryh is especially-ben-but-me-cha-tel-but-next. In Ver-ho-tu-rye pro-zhi-va-la one-na-va, Pa-ras-ke-va By-co-va; she was very sick-da-la sore-ill-new eyes, already with-everything she had lost her sight, could not-la-da-l-ch-e-ch-that-that-besides-me- go, a hundred-yan-but feeling-wa-la in the eyes unbearable, so that I could neither sleep, nor eat, nor drink. No means are brought to her about-lightness. Then she began to think that it would be futile to seek help from people, if she would not be able to help from above. See-dya such grief this vid-wit-tsy, the righteous died-lo-ser-dyl-sya over her, and on September 12, 1705, when she was sad zi-las in the dre-mo-tu, she had a pre-conceived that she was standing for li-tur-gi-her in the church of St. No-ko-barking, where in-chi-wa-whether the power of the pra-ved-no-go Si-meon, and before the coffin-ni-tsey of the holy one, diligently prays about your healing. Suddenly she hears a voice from the ra-ki of the wondrous chu-do-creator: “Promise-to-serve-to-live mo-le-ben Go-in-do Bo-gu and ved-no-mu Si-meo-nu in the Ni-ko-la-ev-sky temple and made a strong bringing to this temple. " Vdo-wit-tsa promised and with-so-in-ku-pi-la, that nothing would be suitable for this admission. Only as soon as she pro-of-carried this, as already, in-feeling-wa-la, some kind of thing about-lightness, but by the weakness of her lo-zhi-la na-me-re-about mo-lebne please-ni-ku. And so soon she is a second-ric-no uvi-de-la, as if praying in that very church-vi and hears how the venerable told her: “ Why would you forget your promise of prayer? " She immediately echoed-click-nu-la: “Vi-no-va-that I, sinner, before God and that-fight, pra-ved-no-che. I have fulfilled my promise to the fullest, just be moved by me and have healed my illness. "

Waking up, she felt-va-la-se-bya even better, those forest forces of her returned, only she still could not-la ho -ro-sho look. But even after this she, for some reason, began to lay off her promise. Then, again, she was seeing, as if she was standing in the Ni-ko-la-ev-temple; the out-of-the-mouth right-wing sat down in his shrine and told her: “Do not forget your promise to serve-to-live ben and not from-kla-dy-wai this-go for a long time. " Having woken up, she is clear-but-awake. Ra-du-ya my cure and praying to the Gos-yes, she-spe-shi-la in the Ni-ko-la-ev-sky mo-na-str ... At her request, there was-so-very-so-but-mo-leb-sting at the crab-ki of the wonderful-ni-ka Si-meo-na Ver-ho-tur-sko ... Then she made-la-la and made a sacrifice to this abode.

There was a lot of disorder at that time in the Siberian country. Often, to-chev-ni-ki na-pa-da-li for the se-le-niya Russian and take away the captives. In 1709, the summer of the bash-ki-ry na-pa-li on the Ba-ga-rya-tinsky slo-bo-du, ra-zo-ri-li and took her captive locally -th priest Peter together with his son Iere-mi-her. Ko-chev-ni-ki, connected with the prisoners, for three days, were taking them to their ulu-sy. Arriving at Lake Che-bar-kule-vo, they stayed for the night. The priest-priest, who was so-lazy with fear and cha-goose, quickly fell asleep, and suddenly Pre-Holy God appeared to him. go-ro-di-tsa and po-ve-le-la, so that for the liberation of God from the ple-na, he promises to-clo-thread-Xia in Ver-ho-tu-rye mo- shham pra-ved-no-go Si-meo-na and would have gone to the village of Ni-rob for clo-no-ny to the icon of saint-te-la and chu-do-creator Ni barking. The priest-puppet-nickname pro-bu-dil-sya, in-feminine such a manifestation, and with great bliss became a power pouring Gos-do-do Bo-gu and His Most-chi-stand Ma-te-ri, as well as the possibility of-strength their motions glorious-no-mu chu-do- tsu Si-meo-well and made a vow to use everything that in-ve-le-la to him Pre-holy Bo-go-ro-di-tsa. Meanwhile, at the on-stup-le-nii no-chi, the enemies are even stronger for-cha-well-whether ve-roar-ki, who-that-ry-were-connected-for-us captive-ni-ki. But all of a sudden, the repetitive pu-you are captured by the donkeys-be-va-yut and spa-da-yut with them by themselves. The priest-priest, together with his son, are hiding in the reed, together with his son, who are mastered in such a wondrous manner ke, who grew up on the shore of the lake, then they step into the water itself up to the neck, so that the enemies could not spot them , and so God-yes-yes-Xia from the ple-na. After that, they went-to-go-to-ne-ness to the image of Ni-ko-bark Chu-to-creator, with all the heart go-da-ri-whether Bo-ga and Pre-saint Bo-go-ro-di-tsu and pro-glory-la-whether pra-ved-no-go Si-meo-na Ver-ho-tour -so-th.

In 1711, in ap-re-le me-sya-tse, one mon-na-ster-elder named Ia-kov vn-ma-tel-tel-but-shal the God-zhestven li-tur-giyu and tried to get rid of the thought from all the earth. Ti-ho he stood in prayer-ven-um-le-nii. Suddenly, with the voice, "With fear of God-im-and I-sw-swear, I will pr-stu-pi-te", he fell down and lay for a long time without feeling, when he came into it, then the rass-ska-hall is next.

When he looked at the image of the Pre-Saint Bo-go-ro-di-tsy, named "Odi-git-riya", he was suddenly filled with fear. What happened to him further - he does not remember, he only remembers only one thing, how the right-winged Si-me-on appeared before him and, - looking to him, said: “Stand up, follow and declare to everyone, so that you keep from the bad words and the words of the abused, otherwise the State go send hunger and pestilence to people and their cattle. Let everyone diligently pray Gos-do-do, His Most-pure Ma-te-ri and all the saints, let the whole nation serve a prayer song about from-the-rejection of the wrath of God. " In addition, the righteous Si-me-he has come-to-hall Ia-ko-wu tell about this ar-hee-mand-ri-tu and vo-e-vo- de, so that people can rass-ka-i-go in their pre-sin-ni-yah and pray for the bav-le-nii from the righteous anger -Va God, that was-half-not-but-all with ve-li-cha-shim zeal-di-em.

Right-wed-si-me-he was-lal-Xia without-a-mezd-ts-li-te-lem and the same people, who did not ve-yes-whether and did not hear-sha-whether about his pro-glor-le-nii. So, in 1749, one cross-stya-nin, Vas-si-liy Mas-len-nikov, was chu-des-but from-bav-len righteous from heavy and pro -long-tel-no-go-ha. He lived in Novo-vyanskiy zavo-de and since his very early childhood he was taught by some-ry-mi people, deviated-niv-shi- mi-Xia from the Church-vi, to depict the sign of the cross on itself with two fingers. One-on-one, he immediately fell into a grave illness; his members were so weak that he could not wield the right hand, could not speak. In such a sickness, he spent three whole years. And in the time of sleep, some middle-aged husband in white clothes with ru-sy-mi in-lo-sa-mi and an unusual vein appeared before him vi-house. The appearing-Xia asked Va-si-lia: "Would you like to be healthy?" The big one came to the ve-li-tea-neck of amazement and answered: “Yes, I, sir, I wish that. But who are you and why are you so worried about me? " “I am Si-me-on Ver-ho-tur-sky, - the husband answered him in light clothes, - immediately go to Ver-ho-tur -skiy Ni-ko-la-ev-sky mo-na-butt, pray with faith Gos-do-bo-gu, in-pro-si co-do mo-leb-no singing before na-ho-dya-mi-sya there might-and-mi - and you will be good. The sign of the cross is to be drawn on you in the image of the Holy Trinity, not two, but three firsts ”. The patient gave a promise. When he woke up the next day, he felt very good, very good. That hour he told everyone about his miraculous cure and soon from the right-of-will in Ver-ho-tu-rye, for two versts from where he lived, and here he used up everything that this glorious chu-do-you-rets and protection-nickname right-in -sla-via in the country of Siberian.

At the request of some-ryh in-chi-ta-te-lei St. Si-meo-na in 1763 was about-from-ve-de-but-new osvi-de-tel-stvo-saints of his power. Pro-of-wondrous inspection with a lot of diligence and great diligence so-bi-ra-whether all the information as to life pra-ved-no-go, and about mortal chu-de-sah, from-te-kav-shikh at different times from the incorruptible mighty of this please- ka God.

Between those wonderful healings, everything must be flowed from the gro-ba pra-ved-no-go Si-meon, as it were some kind of water -there is no flow, never flowing. Of the many miracles that were at that time, especially ben-but-me-cha-tel-but-but-cure-lee ka-za-ka Fe-o -do-ra Kai-da-lo-va, pro-zhi-vav-she-go in the go-ro-de Sur-gut-kom To-bolsk diocese. About this, he-target-shy ras-said-zy-val next.

“It happened to me,” he said, in 1790, on the day of the Nativity of Christ, to be in two e-brother, saint John Ioan-no-vi-cha Kai-da-lo-va. Then I found out that his brother had something to do with it, and I could help him in any way. Brother co-gla-force-Xia and brought in a sack twenty-twenty pounds po-ha. This s-shock with a po-ro-ho po-lo-wives was among-de-com-na-you on a half. I was in a hurry to talk about the gun with me. For-ry-div his so ro-khom, I ed-va lowered the cuckoo-rock so that you-shoot-pour, like is-kra from the cream-nya in the chicken-ke necha-yan-no-up- la in that mes-shock. From then on, there was a terrible explosion, some of them dropped-si-lo-to-lok from all over, ho-zya-i-na oglu-shi- lo and opa-li-lo, but at me, since I stood still closer to the bag, all the clothes and the body were about-go-re-lo so that by stam about-na-ru-li-lis-sti. Since that time, my body has covered itself ra-na-mi and began to rot, and in the ra-nah the worms and all the more and more gnawed at my body. In such a sickness, on the night of the 1st Jan-Varya, I had a comforting vision. A certain old man bla-go-about-no-go see-yes so-ve-so-shah-me go-ti-ti-klo-thread-Xia holy might-ved-no-go Si -meo-na, promising that this saint of God will give me healing. From that time on, I had a hundred-yang-but in my minds of the Pra-Ved-no-go Si-meon and in-lo-lived invariably in-me-re -with is-inclined both-tom - to go to Ver-ho-tu-rye to pray-to-pra-ved-no-mu with cancer and his holy powers. The use of both-that had a spa-si-tel-nye action for me, and after half a month I was completely tse-lil-sya ".

Blah-go-vey-nye respect for the righteous-ved-no-mu, oza-rya-yu-shch-mu-and-mi chu-de-sa-mi Sibir-country -well, all the way-ras-ta-lo and ugly-li-chi-va-el. Su-pru-gi Tur-cha-ni-no-you in 1798 co-oru-di-li a new copper crayfish for the mighty holy land-nik Bo- zhiya, and in 1808 in the se-le Mer-ku-shin there was-la-car-moving-well-that one-one top-ho-tur-skim-te-lem kamen-naya coffin tsa instead of the former de-vyan-noy. She was-la-co-shout-same-na over the very mo-g-loi pra-ved-no-go, from which it is-te-ka-e the source of water, not by -wa-waiting-yu-shcha-sya in the co-su-dakh, even if it would be worthwhile for her to be worth it. And until this time-me-no pok-lo-nya-yu-schi-e-sya m-scham pra-ved-no-go Si-meo-na-s-si-yut and this is the place , take-root with itself water from the source. According to the zealous prayer and the call of the name of St. Si-meo-na often-a hundred from this water-da-yut-sya ve-ru-yu-yu-yu-yu-yu-yu-yu-yu-yu-yu-yu-yu-si-e-s-i-e-c-c-a-c-a-c-a-s-a-a-s-a-s-a-s-a-s-e forest.

Oso-ben-but-me-cha-tel-but one-but-chu-to the pra-ved-no-go Si-meo-na, which-ry quickly na-ka-zy-va-e people who do not believe they do not believe, but quickly and can-ha-em them, if they rass-ka-I-foxed and from all their hearts ob-ra-ti-lied with a prayer to his ho-da-tai-stvu. One woman-schi-na, Kseniya Fe-o-do-ro-va, - this was in the beginning of the 19th century in Ver-ho-tu-rye, - vzo - went to the Ni-ko-la-ev-sky temple, where, in-chi-va-li, the power of pra-ved-no-ka, but did-la-la-la-la-la-this not according to races -by-lo-same-heart-ts, but rather from any torture. At that time, in the temple, there was one noble woman, at the request of a certain swarm, it was tye powers of the pra-ved-no-go Si-meon. The enemy of the kind of man always tries to catch the weak and hesitating in his co-networks Xia; this ancient defender of people put Xenia in the heart of the mind. When you see about-n-wives, she not only didn’t give up-to-wait-but-go to them, but yes, she didn’t. -was them and carelessly left the temple. She did not have time to go through one mile from the city (she wanted to return to the place of her life) , when suddenly a terrible whirlwind came up. The wind lifted a thunderous pillar of dust and a chalky dog, and all this dust fell on Xenia and so-ver-shen-but- so-ri-la her eyes. From the dog, she could not see the light, she began to protect the eyes - but everything was in vain. She was-lo-for-kri-cha-la-tsam, but those behind the whistle of the wind did not hear her. Then she realized that the Lord had punished her for her agreement. She began to call on the name of the pra-ved-no-go Si-meon, and he immediately helped her: one of the companions came to her. Ksenia in-pro-s-la her, so that she pro-in-di-la her to the power of the pleasing of God Si-meon. Do-ro-goy all the time she prayed and pro-for-la that the Lord would forgive her for transgression. Arriving at the temple with a firm hope for lightness, Xenia did not ob-ma-nu-la in her expectation. Only she just got attached to the holy powers, that hour had matured. Pra-ved-ny Si-me-he from-ba-vil her from illness and, at the same time, from her gib-no-thought. So a lot is meant by "pra-ved-na-po-pe-she-stu-e-ma" ().

Righteous Simeon was born at the beginning of the 17th century in the European part of Russia into a family of pious nobles. He left honor and earthly wealth and retired beyond the Urals. Avoiding worldly vanity, he settled in the village of Merkushino, fifty miles from Verkhoturye, and lived like a simple wanderer, hiding his origin.

The saint devoted himself to contemplation of God and hermit labors. He walked through the surrounding villages and villages or retired on the banks of the Tura River, setting an example of a pious life and firm faith to everyone. He sewed short fur coats and other outerwear for the poor for free. At the same time, he deliberately did not sew anything, for which he endured vilification from customers. Saint Simeon loved the Ural nature, joyfully contemplating its majestic beauty, he raised his mind's eye to the Creator of the world. The saint loved to fish in solitude, this reminded him of Christ's disciples, whose work he continued. With the help of the grace of God, he awakened in the hearts of the Voguls, the indigenous inhabitants of this land, the desire for a virtuous life.

Righteous Simeon of Verkhotursky reposed in 1642, when he was 35 years old. He was buried at the Merkushinsky churchyard at the church of the Archangel Michael. 50 years after his death, they noticed that the coffin of the righteous began to rise from the ground, and through the lid of the coffin one could see the imperishable remains.

Soon, numerous healings began to occur from the relics that appeared. Metropolitan Ignatius of Siberia sent people to examine the facts. "

In 1694, a miraculous healing took place at the tomb of the righteous. A gunman named Ioann Grigoriev lived in Verkhoturye. A serious illness befell him: he was completely weak and began to prepare for death. Once in a dream he heard a voice: “John, go to the village of Merkushino; tell the priest of that church to sing a prayer service to the holy Archangel of God Michael, and at the leaving tomb - to perform a panikhida, and you will be healthy. " Awakening from sleep, John sent his son Stephen to a priest in the village of Merkushino. There, at the request of Stephen, a prayer service was performed to the holy Archangel Michael and a requiem service was performed over the tomb of the righteous. At this very time in Verkhoturye, the relaxed John felt much better and was able to move independently.

On September 12, 1704, with the blessing of Metropolitan Philotheus of Tobolsk, the relics of the righteous Simeon of Verkhoturye were transferred from the church in honor of the Archangel Michael to the Verkhoturye monastery in the name of St. Nicholas. During the years of Soviet power, the relics were kept in anti-religious museums. On September 25, 1992, the main part of the relics was transferred to the Verkhotursky Nikolayevsky Monastery in the restored and re-consecrated Holy Cross Cathedral.

Simeon Verkhotursky is revered as the heavenly patron of the Ural land. Through the prayers of Saint Simeon of Verkhoturye, the Lord reveals gracious help, consolation, strengthening, admonition, healing of souls and bodies and deliverance from evil and unclean spirits. Often people turn to a miracle worker with prayers for eye diseases and paralysis.

Amen.

Our holy righteous father Simeone, pray to God for us!

Simeon Verkhotursky(his worldly name is not known) born around 1607 in a noble boyar family. After the death of his parents, he, disdaining all worldly honors and earthly wealth, left Russia for the Urals and arrived in the Verkhoturye region. But, avoiding the bustle of the world, he did not settle in the city of Verkhoturye itself, then known as a shopping center, but chose the small village of Merkushino (about 53 km from Verkhoturye) for residence. There Simeon lived as a simple wanderer, hiding his noble origins.

The very nature of those places disposed Simeon to divine thought and hermit work. Majestic cedars, huge spruces, dense forests, beautiful valleys, towering rocky cliffs attracted the ascetic. In the village, he did not constantly live, but often wandered around the surrounding villages and villages or retired on the banks of the Tura River, ten miles from Merkushin, and was engaged in fishing and prayer conversations with God.

In winter, Simeon sewed fur coats, however, in his humility, he was distinguished by complete non-covetousness. Being engaged in sewing fur coats, he lived in the houses of peasants. Often at the same time he had to experience various inconveniences and hardships, but he endured everything, glorifying and thanking the Lord. Often, when his work was already nearing the end, he would suddenly disappear to evade payment for his labor.

Saint Simeon constantly visited the Merkushinsky wooden church in the name of the Archangel of God Michael.

Saint Simeon prayed a lot for the strengthening of the newly enlightened inhabitants of Siberia in the faith. The ascetic combined his prayer with the feat of kneeling on a stone in the dense taiga.

The blessed end of the holy man followed among the great deeds of fasting and prayer. He died in 1642, when he was only 35 years old, and was buried at the Merkushinsky churchyard, near the temple of the Archangel Michael. Such an early death followed from his excessive abstinence and fasting.

Little information has come down to us about the life of Simeon of Verkhoturye, but they speak most clearly of the pious life of holy healing, which have been flowing from his relics in an abundant stream for more than 300 years.

Humble in his life, Simeon did not like the glorification of the people, he avoided the glory of this vain world. Therefore, the memory of him was already beginning to disappear, but God did not want the one who left everything earthly for His sake to be forgotten on earth.

The Lord glorified His saint, 50 years after the death of the saint. In 1692, the inhabitants of the village of Merkushino miraculously found the revealed incorruptible body of a righteous man whose name they forgot (the coffin of Simeon of Verkhotursky rose from the grave, so that his remains became visible in it). Soon, numerous healings began to occur from the relics that appeared. A paralyzed man was healed, and other healings followed. The incorruption of the relics of righteous Simeon and the abundance of miracles that flowed from them convinced the residents of Merkushin, as well as the surrounding residents, of the righteousness and holiness of a person buried in a coffin miraculously emerging from the ground.

Metropolitan Ignatius of Siberia (Rimsky-Korsakov, 1692-1700) sent people to examine the facts. One of them, Hierodeacon Nikifor Amvrosiev, prayed to God on the way and imperceptibly sank into a light slumber. Suddenly he saw in front of him a man in white clothes, middle age, his hair was light brown. With a kind look, he looked at Nicephorus and at the latter's question: "Who are you?"- appeared answered: "I am Simeon Merkushinsky", - and became invisible.

The "Iconographic Original" on April 16 reads: “Holy and righteous Simeon of Merkushinsky and Verkhotursky, like a new miracle worker in Siberia; the likeness of Rus, Brada and Vlasa on the head of aka Kozma Bezsrebrennik; the vestments on it are simple, Russian.

September 12, 1704solemnly and with due reverence, the transfer of the holy relics of the righteous Simeon of Verkhoturye from the church in honor of the Archangel Michael to the Verkhoturye monastery in the name of Saint Nicholas was accomplished. The memory of this event is still celebrated. Initially, the relics rested in a wooden, and then in a silver-plated copper shrine with carvings. After the transfer of the relics to Verkhoturye, miracles began to flow with renewed vigor from the shrine of the righteous. Righteous Simeon was a gratuitous healer even for those people who had never heard of his glorification.

In 1846, a new silver shrine was erected for the relics of the saint.

Thanks to the multitude of miraculous healings that flowed from the relics of the righteous Simeon of Verkhoturye, the rumor about this saint of God spread more and more. His name became known far beyond Verkhoturye. Many pilgrims flocked to the Nicholas Monastery to worship the holy remains of the righteous man and in order to make their own contribution to the benefit of the monastery. Thus, the number of pilgrims who were attracted to the monastery of the saint's relics at the beginning of the 20th century reached 60,000 a year. In this regard, in 1913 in the Nikolaevsky monastery was built Holy Cross Cathedral, designed for 8-10 thousand people, into which in 1914 the holy relics of righteous Simeon were solemnly transferred from the Nicholas Church.

New canopy over the silver shrine in which they rested honest relics Saint Righteous Simeon, was built by the dependents of Emperor Nicholas II and his August family and donated to the Verkhotursky Nicholas Monastery in 1914. It was all gilded like old gold, had embossed ornaments and many icons.

In 1926, St. Nicholas Monastery was closed (its premises were used as a colony for minors), all church valuables, including the silver shrine and the canopy, were confiscated by the authorities, and the holy relics were blasphemously opened and transferred to the Nizhne-Tagil Museum of Local Lore. The Orthodox people have not forgotten the righteous Simeon. He went to worship him in the museum, paying for tickets of any cost, whatever was required. Thus, the “new masters” began to receive income from the relics of the righteous. When the direct pilgrimage to the museum began, they were removed from the exposition and in 1935 taken to Sverdlovsk. So the remains of the righteous man, which for more than 200 years were an object of reverent admiration and brought people mental and physical healing, began to be shown in the Sverdlovsk Museum of Atheism, which was located in Yekaterinburg in the Ipatiev House (the place of the execution of the Tsar's Family). In the Ipatiev House, the relics of righteous Simeon were kept until 1946. Then the relics were hidden in the storerooms of the Regional Historical Museum in Zelenaya Roshcha, which was housed in the building of the former Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (now functioning again), where they miraculously survived to this day. During the years of Soviet power, the question of the destruction of the relics or their burial was several times considered, but, despite this, the shrine was preserved.

Now the holy relics of righteous Simeon are returned Orthodox Church... On September 22, 1992, they were solemnly transferred to the restored Holy Cross Cathedralrevived Verkhoturye St. Nicholas Monastery, where those who are now reverently revered by Orthodox Christians rest.

The Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Cross is the third largest church in Russia, second only to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow and St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg

The relics of the holy righteous Simeon of Verkhoturye

From the relics of the righteous, by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, various miracles and healings continue to flow to this day.

Righteous Simeon of Verkhotursky is considered the spiritual patron of the Urals and Siberia. His memory is committed: December 18/31(day of worship) September 12/25(first transfer of relics), May 12/25(second transfer of relics), January 29 / February 11(Cathedral of Yekaterinburg Saints) and June 10/23(Cathedral of Siberian Saints).

In Siberia and the Urals, there are still remote places where time seems to have stopped. There are impenetrable swamps, deep forests, there are devotees of piety hiding from human eyes. At the beginning of the 17th century, one such modest and pious man lived 50 miles from Verkhoturye. He did not come from these places, but from central Russia. His name was Simeon.

Life

A nobleman by birth, he renounced the worldly vain life and came to a remote area near the village of Merkushino. The surrounding nature, wild places attracted the hermit with their pristine beauty. He often retired somewhere on the banks of the Tura River, spending time in prayer and fishing.

And now the stone on which the righteous Simeon sat is known, there is a Cross with a commemorative inscription nearby. In addition to fishing, the saint earned himself a living by sewing fur coats for the villagers in winter. In those days, it was customary that tailors lived in the houses they were sheathed. The owners fed the worker while he worked. But a typical tailor could make enough money in a season to take care of himself.

Useful materials

The humble righteous man, knowing that he was to receive payment for his work, secretly left home, leaving his work almost finished. For this he was usually scolded, and somewhere they beat him. But soon the villagers realized that he was doing this in order not to take money for his work.

The ascetic gladly endured the inconveniences and hardships of a wanderer's life. His kind word, diluted with love for God, strengthened people in the faith of Christ. But an even more saint preached by his example of chastity, abstinence, purity of soul and body. He often visited the church in the name of the Archangel Michael in the village of Merkushino. And he was buried not far from this temple around 1642. Due to extreme abstinence and a meager life, the ascetic died before he reached old age.

Appearance of relics

His humble, lonely life was inconspicuous and therefore little details are known about his ascetic life. And the memory of him would have disappeared altogether, if not for the Lord himself miraculously reminded people of a righteous man worthy of deep respect.

Interesting fact

50 years after his death, they began to notice that the coffin with Simeon's body began to rise and come out of the ground. The inhabitants of the village were even more surprised when they saw the surviving remains through the cracks of the dried coffin.

But by that time everyone had already forgotten the name of the righteous man buried in this coffin. Pious people offered thanks to God for the miracle of incorruption and began to spread the rumor about the tomb that had come out of the grave.

Meanwhile, healings began to take place. Voivode Anthony Savelov drove through Verkhoturye to a new place of service. He took with him his beloved servant Gregory, who by that time had been paralyzed for a whole year. There they heard about the miraculous relics that had recently appeared in the village of Merkushino. The relaxed one asked to be taken there, prayed, then took the earth, wiped it off and immediately felt the strength returning to his members. The recovered patient glorified the Lord and went back, taking with him some earth from the wonderful grave.

Soon, Grigory met with his friend who served another voivode, Ilya Golovachev, who was suffering severe illness eye. He was in severe despondency, afraid of completely losing his sight. Then Gregory told his friend about his miraculous recovery and offered to pray to the unknown ascetic.

Elijah, believing in the power of the righteous, took some earth from Gregory, put it under a bandage over his eyes, and the next night woke up from the blood flowing from them. In the morning he found that he had become healthy and in great joy he went to Merkushino to bow to the wonderful relics.

Meanwhile, the voivode Naryshkin's daughter also ached with eyes. Hearing about the healing of his servant, he went with her to the grave and ordered a panikhida. After the prayer, the daughter put the earth from the tomb to her eyes and immediately received healing.

Soon they learned about the relics and miracles in Tobolsk. Traveling around the Siberian diocese on behalf of the bishop, the assistant to the metropolitan came to Verkhoturye. This happened in 1693. The assistant was told about unusual miracles and taken to the churchyard, where they found a coffin that came out of the ground. Returning home, the priest reported everything to his lord.

IN next year new miracles occurred from the relics. First, a resident of Verkhoturye, Ioanna Grigoriev, was healed from relaxation, then his daughter recovered from an illness that covered his entire face with ulcers. Then another miracle happened. The rider circled the horse and fell, crushing his leg so that he could not get up. The patient was brought to the grave of the righteous. There he asked to serve first a moleben to the patron of the Temple next to which there was a grave, and then a requiem for the saint, whose name was still unknown. After that, the swelling on the leg subsided, the pain passed and the person became healthy, as if he had never been sick.

Opening

December 18, 1694 in Verkhoturye it was necessary to consecrate a temple. For this purpose, Metropolitan Ignatius of Tobolsk went there. Several priests and monks were with him. They stayed in another village, seven miles from Merkushino. Vladyka, knowing about this story, did not want to inspect the relics himself, but sent Isaac, the Dalmatov igumen, and other representatives of the clergy there. They arrived at the scene and removed the lid of the coffin in order to draw up an act on the examination of the imperishable relics. They saw the surviving body of the righteous. Only a part of it has decayed.

The next day the Metropolitan arrived in the village. He visited the temple of the Archangel Michael and listened to the report of Hegumen Isaac on the autopsy of the relics. Vladyka was perplexed when he heard the story of the priests. On the same day, his left eye began to hurt. At first, the Metropolitan thought that it was due to a cold, but then the thought came to him that this illness was sent because he himself did not conduct the examination.

Then the Right Reverend, together with the clergy, went to the grave and, opening the coffin, saw everything himself and said the following words:

“I also testify that these are truly the relics of a righteous and virtuous person; in everything they are similar to the relics of ancient saints. This righteous man is like, or Sergius of Radonezh, for he was vouchsafed by God to incorruption, like these lamps of the Orthodox faith! "

Even the coffin itself was intact, although more than fifty years had passed since the burial. After the requiem, it was again partially covered with earth. And by that time there was already a small log house above that place - a chapel. This is how the first examination of the holy relics of a righteous man took place. But his name was still not known.

The Right Reverend turned to the people and asked if anyone knew a person buried here. An old man named Athanasius came out of the crowd and told about the life of the righteous man, about his origin, but he could not give a name. Then the bishop ordered everyone to pray to God, and said that he himself would also pray, and the Lord would help to find out the name of his servant.

Having left a little, Metropolitan Ignatius reflected on the fact that if the Lord revealed the relics of the righteous man, he would also reveal his name. Dozing off with these thoughts, Vladyka heard a voice twice: "Simeon is his name!" And then for the third time the same thing. Filled with joy, the Metropolitan woke up and realized that this was a revelation from above. The same revelation was revealed to Hierodeacon Basilides. In a dream, he also heard a voice that the name of the deceased was Simeon.

Having finished business in Verkhoturye on December 27, 1694, the metropolitan again stopped at Merkushino. The priest of the Church of St. Michael the Archangel said that the day before the arrival of Vladyka, he had a dream. As if he was ordered to serve a litiya at the tomb, but he stands and does not know what name to call the deceased. And, suddenly, he hears a voice: "Remember him Simeon."

The next day, Metropolitan Ignatius once again examined the remains, bowed to them and solemnly announced to everyone that this was righteous Simeon .. Soon they wrote down the history of the appearance of the shrine, composed an akathist and began to collect stories about miracles from the holy relics, which from that time became even larger.
The relics are transferred to Verkhoturye.

In 1704, the people decided that Saint Simeon was worthy of a higher honor than being in the Merkushinsky cemetery. To implement the plan, at first it was necessary to seek the blessing of the bishop. By that time, Metropolitan Philotheus was appointed to the Tobolsk See. He agreed to transfer the relics to Verkhoturye. Then the sacred remains were reverently transferred to a new shrine, and on September 12 the pious deed conceived successfully ended. Since then, righteous Simeon began to be called Verkhotursky.

In 1798, a copper reliquary was made for the relics, in 1848 - a silver one with gilding worth 14,573 rubles.

In 1914, on the occasion of the opening of the Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Cross and the transfer of the main shrine of the region there, through the efforts of Tsar Nicholas, a new canopy for the relics was made and brought, which was placed over a silver shrine. It was engraved with many ornaments, icons, and it was all covered with gold. For two centuries, the great righteous man calmly rested in Verkhoturye in his relics, until difficult trials approached.

Withdrawal

With the coming to power of the Bolsheviks, the calm life of the holy monastery was disrupted. In 1920, the atheists decided to spoil the believers great holiday... A commission was formed from representatives of the authorities, which was supposed to remove the relics from the ark on September 25 in order to outrage the shrine. The clergy knew this and tried to prolong the service as long as possible.

The temple and cathedral square were overflowing with pilgrims. After the liturgy, they began to slowly recite the akathist. People began to sob, feeling unkind. For two hours the commission had been waiting for the end of the service and, finally, could not stand it.

The chairman of the commission ordered to interrupt the service, but was refused. Then the Red Army men with force squeezed through the pilgrims, pushed aside the monks who surrounded the shrine with the relics. Then the military with great difficulty carried the relics to the porch.

Archimandrite Xenophon, having removed the veil from the relics, refused to continue the autopsy. Then the atheists themselves began to desecrate the shrine, taking out with their hands the parts of the body of the righteous and putting them on the table. The crowd of people stood in a daze with unprecedented blasphemy. When the tomb was emptied, it was turned over, shaking out the fluff on which the relics of the righteous rested.

The crying worshipers tried to grab the fluffs in order to hide them in their bosoms. The commission, having finished the sacrilege, allowed the monks to put the remains back into the tomb. The next day, Archimandrite Xenophon and many other monks were arrested.

In 1926, the Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Cross was closed, the relics were taken to the local history museum in Nizhny Tagil. When devout people began to go to the museum as on a pilgrimage, the authorities transported the relics to Sverdlovsk in 1935, where they were placed as an exhibit in the atheism museum in the Ipatiev house, and in 1946 the remains were taken from the museum and were considered lost.

Return of the shrine

In the year of the celebration of the Millennium of the Baptism of Rus, some shrines were returned to the Orthodox. The relics of the Verkhoturye Prayer Book were found in the storerooms of the dilapidated Cathedral of Alexander Nevsky. Even after death, the humble servant of Christ again had to endure hardships and sorrows, as once upon a time in earthly life. For 63 years, the remains of the righteous were mocked by the atheists.

Archbishop Melchizedek did not transport the relics of the saint to a functioning church on Elizabeth.

What helps the saint

Thousands of pilgrims come to the Verkhoturye righteous every day. They turn to him for help with various diseases. Before the icon, they ask the righteous to strengthen the faith, to enlighten the unbelievers with the light of Christ's truth, sobriety, in everyday difficulties, in adversity and any other needs.

The name and appearance of Simeon of Verkhoturye became known thanks to the vision of the saint in a dream to Hierodeacon Nikifor Ambrose.

On the icons, the righteous man is often depicted standing near a tree in simple clothes on the bank of the river with a scroll, where the call to the fear of God and purity is written. A monastery may be depicted in the background, and in the upper left corner on a cloud - Jesus Christ blessing the righteous.

Today there are many testimonies of the miracles of the saint. Especially frequent are stories about the healing of diseases of the eyes and feet, recovery from cancer and tumors, getting rid of gangrene.

Temples

Righteous Simeon is especially honored in the Urals and Siberia, as the patron saint of these places. Temples in honor of the saint:

  • In the village of Merkushino. It was built in 1886 over the place where his relics were found. Currently, this temple has been rebuilt after being destroyed in the Soviet era;
  • The Cathedral in Chelyabinsk, the revived temple in Zlatoust, in Snezhinsk;
  • Simeon-Verkhotursky temple in Ufa;
  • In Perm and Solikamsk;
  • St. Simeon's school in Yekaterinburg, in the village of Kolyutkino, pos. Obukhovo;
  • New temple in the Ob region;
  • Church under construction in Moscow (Patriarch's courtyard in Maryino).

In other places, there are side-altars and chapels, consecrated in honor of the holy righteous man.
For more than three centuries Verkhoturye has been famous for its righteous man. Three times a year Simeon the Righteous gathers pilgrims to himself:

December 31/18 - uncovering of relics (1694)
May 25/12 - the second acquisition of relics (1989)
September 25/12 - transfer of relics (1704)

Righteous Simeon for the Urals and Siberia is as significant a saint as Sergius of Radonezh in Moscow or Seraphim of Sarov in Diveevo. Although the exploits of the saints are incomparably higher than the humble life of a simple righteous man, for the Russian soul each saint is significant in his own way and is loved no less than others.
